A Year Later

This is simply a one shot I wrote to tie up my story Art Store Angel. It's not much of a sequel I know. But I couldn't think of a decent sequel.

Konan's alarm clock went off. She got out of bed and went to out on her clothes. Downstairs, Deidara stood at the stove making breakfast. Pein walked in and gave Konan a peck on the cheek.

"Are you ready for another day of teaching origami class?"

"Of course."

Breakfast was a loud affair, just as it had been when Konan first ate here a year ago to the day. After that was done, Zetsu went about clearing the table. Konan went to the origami room to get ready for class. Kisame and Itachi went to the small art store in the warehouse to get it ready. Deidara went to his room. Sasori headed off to his puppet workshop.

Kakuzu went to his office to mange finances. Hidan went off to run errands. Tobi went with him.

Konan smiled as she surveyed her room. Everything that had happened in the past year had been wonderful. It was hard to imagine that a year ago today she had first eaten here. Then the future was so uncertain.

After the class was done Konan went outside and sat down on a bench under her favorite apple tree. Pein came out and sat beside her.

"Konan, are you alright? You seem zoned out today."
"No, I'm just thinking of everything that has happened in the past year."

Pein seemed to hesitate for a moment. Then, he kneeled down in front of Konan.

"Konan, I don't have a ring for you because I can't express my feelings for you through possessions. Yet, please Konan, marry me."

Konan gasped. Then she threw herself into his arms with shouts of "Oh yes Pein, of course I will!"

Then suddenly, all of the Akatsuki jumped out from behind the corner of the building.

"Congrats leader-sama!"

Pein stood up. "How did you guys know I was going to propose? I didn't tell anyone."

"We had our… sneaking suspicions."

Konan simply beamed. Later that night, as she lay in bed, she thought about her future. To her, it seemed pretty damn bright. She was going to have to thank Deidara for setting them up. On her last day at the art store Owen whispered to her about Deidara helping to set them up. Konan was glad he did.
