Author's note: This is something I wrote a long time ago, but decided to post it. Two Hearts, One Mind is kind of on hiatus right now, since AP tests, writer's block, and a vacation to Tennessee to see my grandma took up a lot of time.

He'd never meant to say them to her. Well…maybe not never. Just not in the near future. Or today.

He'd said too much. Like that song he sometimes heard as he was flipping through the stations on the radio.

Or not enough. There, that song again. Maybe he should have explained what he meant. But it had just slipped out.

They had been arguing. She was angry with him for running a background check on her new boyfriend. He was only trying to protect her.

She had frozen, looking at him with shock written all over her face. Then, she spun on her heel and walked out of his office.

Three words. They just slipped out.

I love you.

Three words.

Now she was in her office. What had he meant? He couldn't possibly…and she…she couldn't possibly…

No! Their relationship wasn't like that. No one like him could ever feel that way about someone like her.

But what if he did?

Three words. They had been arguing.
