So um... Yeah. This is a one shot. Kind of depressing and leaves you hanging. Enjoy!

The sound of the gunshots echoing off the was truly terrifying. It was loud enough for someone to shatter an eardrum, but yet, she couldn't hear it. As she fell towards the ground, all she could hear was the sound of a heart beat. At first she thought it was her own. But then she realized it wasn't. It was someone else's. As soon as the thought crossed her mind, she realized who's. It was Alek. She could hear his heart pounding as if it were her own.

Pum, pumu. Pum, pumu.

Suddenly, she saw his face. The day he tried to kiss her, the day she found out she was Mai, the day he nearly died to save her, the day he finally did kiss her. The memories were swirling around her head, all of him. Then she saw the memory she had kept on shutting out. When she said the kiss meant nothing. When he overheard her saying she thinks she's in love with Brian. The look on his face was the same, devastatingly heartbroken. That itself was enough to kill her. She saw black, and heard her heart stop.

But then her heart started beating again. For a second she was convinced Alek's heartbroken face is what really had killed her. Then she remembered the bullets.

"I love you, I love you, I love you."

She slowly opened her eyes, vision blurred. Thinking of Alek, she said, "I love you, too."

He lowered himself and captured her lips in a kiss. It was gentle and sweet, slow and safe. It wasn't Alek. She jerked back as she realized who she'd been kissing.

"Brian..."
