"I swear I'll never understand all of your strange Earth customs," the Doctor complained, looking down at the bulky costume he wore. "Tell me again why I'm dressed up like a Christmas tree?"
Rose couldn't help but giggle at the sight of the exasperated face surrounded by green foam matching her own clichéd alien costume. "It's Halloween. People dress up and go door to door collecting candy. You can't tell me you've never heard of it before."
He ignored the last comment. "Isn't this a children's holiday, Rose?"
"Of course not! There are lots of parties and things for adults, too."
He sighed. "I look ridiculous, and so do you. Where did you get these silly things, anyway?"
"Doesn't matter," his companion answered with a grin. "you're going to Mum's party whether you like it or not. She throws one for our friends and neighbors every year, and she's expecting us to be there."
"Oh, goody," the Doctor answered sarcastically. "With Jackie in the mix, this out to be even more 'fun' than usual."
Rose only smiled innocently as she grabbed the edge of his costume and towed him out of the TARDIS and toward Powell Estate. "Come on, you silly alien. You'll like it - you'll see."
