Lily Evans might have had a butterbeer or two...or six...

Gryffindor had just won the Quidditch Cup 20 to 190. James Potter and Sirius Black, quidditch players and Marauders extraordinaires, had of course planned for a win. That's why the whole of Gryffindor house was currently in their common room, dancing and drinking the 200 butterbeers the Marauders had managed to sneak into the castle. Merlin only knows how they managed that.

"Evans, my love," was heard from across the common room. Lily turned and saw Sirius attempting, and failing, to make his way over to her. When he finally did manage to wobble his way over, after falling a few times, he then attempted, and again failed, to pull himself up right using Lily's shoulder. Lily, herself not being completely stable, fell down due to the extra weight. Falling down next to Sirius, she dissolved completely into giggles. "What's so funny Evans?"

"We...fell...over..." was all she managed to get out between giggles.

"Oh, yeah" he said before joining in her laughter.

At that moment James decided to walk by, only to see his best mate and his long time crush, his Lily flower, lying on the floor laughing. "What are you two doing?"

When Lily looked up and saw the quidditch captin himself, her eyes lit up. She grabbed his hand and tried pulling herself up without falling over, again. It didn't work out to well and if it wasn't for James catching her she would have fallen into the table next to them. James held her around the waist to insure that she wouldn't fall, "Lily, how much have you had to drink?" She didn't hear the question, the only thought she could fathom was, his arms feel nice.

- "Oh don't you dare look back

Just keep your eyes on me."

I said, "You're hold back,"

She said, "Shut up and dance with me!" –

"Will you dance with me?" she asked, looking straight at him. He looked around behind him, confused. "James...look at me..." she giggled. "Will...you dance...with me?" she looked up at him with an innocent look but he could see the mischief swirling in her bright green eyes.

"Lily, you've had too much to drink. Let's go sit on the couch. You're not thinking straight."

"Yes I am! Please, James?" she looked up at him with puppy dog eyes that could put Sirius to shame.

- She took my arm,

I don't know how it happened.

We took the floor –

Lily grabbed his arm and started jumping up and down like a little girl, all while saying over and over, "Pllleeeeaaaassssseeeee?" But because of those two butterbeers (okay six), she fell straight into James' chest. He steaded her and she slowly looked up into his hazel eyes. The only thought she could fathom was, have is eyes always been that beautiful?

Making her eyes as wide as saucers, she asked again, in a softer voice, "Please, James?" When James looked into those big bright green eyes, he knew that he could never say no to her.

- Deep in her eyes,

I think I see the future.

I realize this is my last chance –

"Okay..." he said, all the while thinking, she just wants to dance, it'll be fine.

She smiled up at him and he couldn't help but smile back as she dragged, or more like stumbled with him holding her waist from behind to steady her, him into the middle of the common room and pulled him close, putting her head against his chest. Of course there were other people dancing and loitering around but James only had eyes for Lily.

- I felt it in my chest as she looked at me.

I knew we were bound to be together,

Bound to be together –
