The Tree

It's been a year since she saw him last; and a year since she watched him walk away. The words he last spoke to her would replay in her mind continuously.

"Thank you…"

She lay in her bed motionless; on a windy moonless night in her apartment alone. All she can see is darkness. When she sleeps her mind fills with him leaving her no room to hide the pain when she wakes and realizes what is real and what isn't. No room to hide the pain, the regret and disappointment. she blames the disappearance of her beloved on herself causing even more pain to grace her heart.

During the day she lived on coffee and puts on a fake smile and fools her friends, and they had no idea how damn good her front was. But yet, one of them knew. He's the only one that really paid attention to her, especially since they felt the same way. If you looked closely you could tell by the way she held her body as if trying to keep herself from falling apart, the her eyes glazed over when she was looking at something as if something else filled her vision, and the way she slightly trembled when they mentioned his name.

She was depressed and she hid it from the world. Every night she dreamed and dreamed. Each dream was the same, she would be laying in his arms at the base of a Cherry Blossom tree; with every gust of wind they would see the beautiful pink petals off the flowers dance in the wind until one by one they hit the ground. Every day the crack in her heart would break just a bit more, until one day it was broken enough.

She was standing underneath a Cherry Blossom looking at the petals until the wind picked up knocking them from the safety of the branches making the linger in the air until they reached their destination. She closed her eyes and lost herself in the wind.

She heard someone say, "You know where to find me..."

That night, she sat alone on her bed letting the words replay through her mind. She finally knew where she could be at peace again; her dreams. She closed her eyes and found herself once again in his arms.

The next morning she didn't awake, she had found peace and her heart was as if it never broke. For once in a long time she was smiling a true genuine smile. Even though her friends and family wept over her, they knew deep down she was finally happy. Another soul wept that night; he was that certain man that she was with in her dreams returned. Only to find her in that state and with a paper in hands that she had written, "You know where to find me."

That night he joined her under their tree holding her and watching the petals dance in the sky.

"I've been waiting for you, Sasuke."
"I'm sorry I took so long, Sakura."
