Characters: Nina Myers and Jack Bauer

A/N: After the craziness (and shipper squeals) involved in the Jack/Nina season 3 kiss, I knew I had to write something. Let me know what you think...reviews have gotten pretty sparse lately in Cherie-world. Enjoy!

Lips Against Lips

Jack was kissing her.

That was all that Nina Myers could comprehend as she and her former lover crashed, lips against lips.

God, he was forcing her into such a primitive state of mind. She was playing the game, making sure he didn't rat her out to CTU, but just barely. Jack ran his tongue slowly over her bottom lip, and Nina was just now beginning to remember how much she had once craved Jack's warmth, back in the days when everything was simple. The days where Jack and Nina were partners, lovers, confidantes, and best friends. She fought a moan threatening to tear its way out of her throat.

The first time this happened, she was successful. The second time, she once again had no problem. By the third one, she was dying, and as she gave his tongue entrance to her mouth, reveling in the once forgotten taste of almonds and black coffee, she let out a little "mmmmm" of satisfaction.

Being that he hadn't been hers for years, she'd never once imagined herself in this position as she cupped her hands around his face and dove headfirst into the kiss. They came up for air, both gulping down as much of it as possible, and it almost felt like what was bound to be the prelude to a wonderful night at home with the man she loved and felt extremely attracted to. This man was perfect for her, of that she was certain.

But though the lust was still there, the current in the air had changed, and not in a good way. As he planted wet kisses down her neck and then at the hollow of her throat, she could sense the repulsiveness he attributed to her. As hands intertwined, her tiny, thin ones in his strong, fight-weathered hands, she realized that she was the only one making up for lost time. And as the two dove away for breath, and Nina looked into Jack's ocean-colored eyes, she knew that she was fighting a losing battle.

She'd give herself a few minutes to play out her dream, to have the man she knew who was closest to perfect, to pretend that life and ambition hadn't gotten in the way of everything she'd wanted. She'd simply lose herself in the adrenaline that rushed through her veins whenever any patch of Jack's skin touched her own.

And then? Then, she'd break away, tell him she knew he was lying, that he was still a CTU agent, how she was disappointed in him for not fighting the way he should be.

How she was sorry. For everything, although he'd see it as her saying, "You can't just expect to pull this kind of bullshit on me, Jack," instead of a legitimate apology.

But for the time being, it was just Jack and Nina. A girl rediscovering love and then realizing it has come back to bite her in the ass. A girl crying silent, unseen tears for everything she had lost.

Lips against lips.

A/N: Don't disappoint the poor little review button. Humor it; it only has one job in life, and that is to create a review addiction in various writers. So keep it coming, and let me know what you really think! As I say, constructive criticism = love as well as praise.
