A/N Hey guys! This is my story Thankful. It was supposed to be done on Thanksgiving...but hey! It doesn't matter. Anyway I hope you guys like it!
In this story Nancy and Frank are 24 while Joe is 23.
I do not own Nancy Drew or either of the Hardy Boys. I wish I did though! :)
Dark...Damp…Silent...That described the room Nancy Drew was locked in at the moment. The room was windowless. She had looked everywhere for a way out. She tried the door, even the air vent. It was to no avail.
She sat on the lonely chair in the room. It looked and felt like it could fall apart at any moment. She sighed. It was Thanksgiving Eve, and she was locked in a room. She hurt all over. Her kidnapper had not been nice to her in any way. She was fairly sure a couple of her ribs were broken. She rested her head against the chair's back. Closing her eyes she reflected on what had happened.
She had taken on a case as a favor for one of her father's friends:Thomas Witbeck. His step daughter, named Ellen, had been found murdered at her house a week and a half before. Ellen had been Nancy's friend since she moved to River Heights when Nancy was 20. Ellen had been 22 at the time. Nancy's investigation had led her to New York, where Ellen had lived before moving to River Heights.
Upon arriving in New York, the case had gone cold. The people that lived in Ellen's hometown were unwilling to talk about her. Even with the news of her untimely death, they refused to even mention her name.
Nancy had then called her good friends Frank and Joe Hardy to help her. They had been happy to assist. Frank especially. She smiled. Even thinking about him caused her heart to flutter. Until then they hadn't seen each other for a year. A year in which things changed. She broke up with her boyfriend Ned Nickerson, and he had broken up with his girlfriend Callie Shaw.
She sighed. Ned had made a good boyfriend. Fantastic even. But he was too pushy. He had asked her to marry him that year. She just hadn't been ready for that. They had argued a lot about it. It had eventually ended in an argument about what and who she loved the most. She remembered that argument like it was yeste"Why? Why can't you marry me." Ned yelled.
"I..I just can't. I'm not ready for that." Nancy said. Tears streamed down her face.
"It's your mysteries isn't it?!" Ned said staring at her. "I always knew they would come between us. You love them more then me!"
"No! I'm just not ready for marriage, Ned! Can't you understand that?!"
"No. I can't. We've been dating for more than 5 years! How are you not ready for this!"
"Do you even truly love me?" Nancy asked.
"I do love you, Nan. That's why I want to marry you!" Ned yelled.
"Apparently you don't." Nancy screamed. She was angry now. Why wasn't he listening to her? "A person that truly loves me would wait until I was ready."
"How do you know?" Ned sneered. "Have you met somebody else that would?"
Nancy froze. "N..no."
Ned emitted a harsh laugh. "Of course you have. I should have known why you rejected my proposal. You love someone else. Someone who's name is Frank Hardy."
"Of course not!" Nancy hurriedly said. She had doubt in her mind though. Did she love Ned?
"Tell the truth Nancy. Do you love Frank more than me?"
Nancy's breath caught in her throat. She closed her eyes.
"Yes" She whispered. "Yes I do."
A/N Well how was it? Good? Bad? Please leave a review if you want more. I would really appreciate your feedback! :)
