Fallen Kiss

Chapter 1

With the summer sun peaking higher in the sky, the bustling town of Magnolia came to life. Merchants opened up their stalls with the shopkeepers eager to sell their wares, calling out offers and sales in attempt to lure customers. Children ran in the streets searching for any patch of shade to hide away from the smothering heat or there were those lucky enough to play in the cooling water of the city's fountain. Even the taverns were already open with customers throwing their money at the bartenders thirsting for something to wet their dry mouths with. Aside from the scorching summer heat it was an ordinary day in the guild of Fairy Tail. The grand structure of the guild towered high in the sky casting a long shadow in front of it. Many passersby took advantage of the large cool patch as an escape from the sun's harsh glare, but also kept a safe distance away knowing the guilds famous trait for explosive fights and reckless damage to their own building. Inside the mages of said guild were already about their own antics. Gray was stripping and fighting with Natsu. Erza was eating her strawberry cake. Mira was serving the hungry and thirsty guildmates and Lucy was sitting peacefully at the bar reading her favourite book trying to ignore the deafening shouts of those around her. Her current book she had immersed herself in was a romance novel which had her sighing longingly every time the hero proclaimed his love for the beautiful heroine. Lucy knew this type of love didn't really exist but it was a way for her to escape the non-romantic life she lead. She had just gotten to a interesting part of the book when a pink haired annoyance bounded up next to her.

"Lucy! " Natsu sounded cheerfully as he slung his arm around her shoulders.

"What Natsu?" she mumbled vaguely trying to reign in her irritation and find where she was on her page. In turn Natsu's carefree grin quickly turned into a scowl. It was obvious knowledge throughout the guild that any time Lucy had a book in front of her face she would ignore the world around her and barely gave one word responses to anyone who had a question for her. So most majority of the guild steered clear of her, except Levy whom she would usually discuss the book she was reading with. But then of course there was Natsu who loathed her reading in the guild and exclaimed that she should be "playing" with everyone. However Natsu's definition of playing meant fighting with anyone in the guild and completely obliterating the place.

"Luce …Lucy... Lucy!" he shouted down her ear. When she still proceeded to ignore him he quickly grabbed the book from her hands.

"Natsu! Give me that back!" she cried as she reached unsuccessfully for her precious book, already imagining Natsu turning into cinders. However he was now clearly enjoying himself immensely having gained her attention and with a mischievous grin he put the book even further out of her grip. Lucy glowered towards her teammate, and gave up her attempts knowing she would never be able to reach it now.

"Oh c'mon Luce , I thought you loved your books. How about we fight for it!" Natsu teased with a smug grin.

"What's so good about a bunch of paper anyway?" he goaded whilst throwing the book up high in the air and easily catching in his hand again. His attempt at taunting her worked as Lucy quickly lunged at him in attempt to knock the book out of his hands. But as she did she tripped over the barstool , toppling over and dragging Natsu down with her. Bracing herself for the hard floor she was about to meet she closed her eyes and instinctively put her hands in front of her. But nothing happened. No pain. No hard floor. Instead she felt two strong arms wrapped protectively around her. As Lucy opened her eyes she met a pair of bewildered onyx eyes staring back up at her. It was then she realized the 'intimate' position they were in. She was on top of Natsu, her whole body lined against his own, including her mouth which was firmly pressed against his. It was with a startling realization that she became aware that they were kissing. Natsu mumbled something against her lips which sounded like her own name. Lucy quickly tore her mouth from his and rose to her feet with a blush now covering her entire face. Natsu still remained on the floor looking slightly confused, but other than that he seemed completely unfazed. Surely he could have some decency and look bashful or be embarrassed Lucy thought annoyed. Angrily turning on her heel she then realized that the whole guild was looking at entire guild had just seen Lucy's first kiss which she shared with her idiotic teammate. Everyone of their faces seemed to be a mixture of shock and humour, besides Mira who was beaming brightly with smugness. Behind her she heard Natsu get to his feet, and felt his strong hand grip her shoulder.

"Lucy, you okay? You didn't get hurt did ya?" concern for her thick in his voice.

"Wha- wait why is everyone staring? You only fell over" he continued clearly confused. Lucy's thoughts were a mixture of hurt and rage and in turn she felt the corners of her eyes begin to damped as the tears threatened to fall. He was acting as if nothing had happened, like he didn't care that they had just shared a kiss in front of everyone. With the overwhelming sense of embarrassment plaguing her she did the one thing she could think of and ran.

His hand hung in the air where a moment ago it had been resting on Lucy's shoulder as he stood there unsure of what had just happened.

"Luce? Wait where are you going?" Natsu called out to her, preparing to chase his teammate who had already ran out the guild doors but not before a iron grip seized his arm. He was turned to his right, and met the stern gaze of Erza who just silently shook her head at him. Judging that Erza meant that he shouldn't run after Lucy, Natsu stood in his place. It was that or try and chase her and in turn get caught by Erza which had an endlessly possibility that involved Natsu getting beaten to a pulp. Letting out a sigh of annoyance Natsu sensed someone behind him.

"What do you want ice freak?" he asked not needing to turn around as he could already feel the chill from the other mages body temperature.

"You seem awfully calm flame brain, considering what Lucy just did" Gray replied his voice annoyingly smug.

"What do you mean? She only fell on me, s'not a big deal is it?" Natsu replied irritation thick in his reply.

"It is, when you she practically lunged at you and you ended up kissing. I'm not judging you ash head, i'm actually impressed".

"What'dya mean Ice popsicle?" Natsu said turning to face the other mage. "I wasn't anywhere near her neck" Natsu replied clearly confused.

"What the hell are you going on about idiot? You just kissed Lucy, on the lips. You know what kiss is don't you?" he replied dumbfounded by his guildmates response.

"Igneel told me a kiss for Dragons is when you bite a female's neck and mark them as you own, it has nothing to do with lips, idiot" Natsu said narrowing his eyes.

Gray stood there speechless with a look on his face that was clearly questioning Natsu's intelligence.

"Well what do you think Alzack and Bisca are always doing when they think nobody's looking?" which earnt Gray a tankard thrown in his general direction from said couple.

"That's just a weird human thing" Natsu replied simply.

Feeling his own jaw drop at Natsu's stupidity, Gray turned and walked away clutching his head as if he were getting a headache from listening to Natsu's logic. After a moment's thought Gray concluded and declared out loud for everyone else to hear that it did indeed make sense for an actual giant reptile to not kiss on the lips but apart from the majority of Natsu's questionable existence he was for the most part a human. After his little declaration that clearly depicted Natsu as the world's biggest moran Gray merely smiled smugly and called back

"You may not think you "kissed" but if you hadn't noticed Lucy is human ash brain."

"What d'ya say Ice princess!" Natsu shouted stalking after his retreating figure.

"Are you two fighting?"

Instantly Natsu froze, he had forgot Erza was stood behind him. Turning to face the red haired mage who now stood before him arms crossed in an intimidating manner she had the look of utter annoyance on her face.

"N-n-no Erza …." Natsu stammered, declaring mentally that he would take his revenge on Gray later.

"Good. Now Natsu I need to talk to you now." she said tightly grabbing Natsu's arm.

Instantly Natsu tried to escape but her iron like grip proved too strong. Dragging him to a corner of the guild that Erza deemed far enough from the many eavesdroppers of the guild Erza faced Natsu.

"Natsu, you know what happens after you steal a maiden's kiss don't you. You must properly court her, take her to romantic places and bring her flowers and then after the minimum of thirty dates you may p-p-propose to her." Erza stammered, her face blushing at the thought.

"Wait what?" Natsu exclaimed loudly,catching the attention of a few nosy guildmates but before he could continue his protests he was silenced as Erza continued her speech.

"Then you have a beautiful w-w-edding, and then go on a far away honeymoon. Then you have a c-c-child!" the red haired mage's face now currently matched her hair shade and it was almost as if you could visibly see the steam coming from her thoughts. Bewildered by what his guildmate was saying to him Natsu's frustration rose to a peak before he finally snapped.

"I did not kiss Lucy! Why the hell is everyone saying I did! I didn't even touch her neck!" he exclaimed so loudly that his voice echoed loudly throughout the entire guild. All his guildmates familiar faces turned towards him and Natsu felt smothered by their confused gazes. Feeling uncomfortable under their scrutiny his body moved on it's own accord and within seconds he was already out of the guild and running wherever his feet would carry him.

The guild was stunned into silence after Natsu's abrupt exit and it was Gray who broke the smothering silence.

"So he really doesn't think they kissed?" he laughed out stunned.

Again the guild stayed silence, until a intimidating, bulky figure stepped out of one of the darker corners of the guild. Gray turned and faced the footsteps sounding behind him and met the amused grin of Gajeel.

"Salamander has a different meaning and way of kissing"

"What do you mean?" Erza's questioned walking over.

"Well for dragons a kiss is marking your mate on the neck" he replied scratching his head whilst his gaze flickered over towards a blunette who was making her way over to the.

"So what the hell does he think normal people are doing? Surely he has heard of people kissing and clearly not biting their necks."

"He probably just sees it as another form of "contact" you do with your mate, plus it's Salamander. You think he listens to that sort of talk in the first place? Plus who knows what his Dad taught her, Metalicana everything Dragon and Human relationships are made of; that idiot probably just thinks what he did to Bunny girl is the same as when he grabbed her big er things on her chest" Gajeel said awkwardly. "And that's happened so many times now that Bunny girl barely reacts".

"So Natsu really doesn't know he has kissed Lu-chan? Like in the human special way?" said Levy as she reached the group a touch of sadness in her voice towards her friend who she knew had just experienced her first kiss, which Lucy had always said she wanted to be special.

"He hasn't, not really anyway. Like I said our parents taught us different and we have our own ways of getting a mate. Remember how err I ended up marking you" Gajeel replied averting his eyes from the blue haired mage. Whilst she in turn had a tinge of pink coat her cheeks.

"Ah yes.." was all she replied.

"Shouldn't someone explain it to him then?" Erza asked trying to steer away the conversation from whatever Gajeel and Levy had done.

"Nah let flame brain figure it out for himself" Gray replied clearly entertained by the whole situation that had folded out this morning.

"I'm sure Lu-chan will tell him, he's probably gone to find her already anyway" Levy said. In agreement the group dispersed and went back to their own activities in the guild.
