Chapter 9: A Hero's Welcome
[The shuttle landed at the presidium. The team took an elevator up to be greeted by more reporters who swarmed the team as they got out and pushed passed them, answering their questions with responses like-]
-Shepard: I'll discuss it with the council.
-Ashley: We are looking into the terrorist threats and will find answers soon enough.
-Javik(Angry): Get your primitive hands off me you damn dirty Volus!
[One more elevator up to the citadel tower. This time C-sec kept the press at bay. As they got closer the audience chamber, Shepard could see Miranda and Jacob and everyone else who had helped him on his adventures waiting for him. Then he saw the council walkout to their usual spot. Shepard noticed something different about them when he approached them. The Salarian and Turian Councilors looked exactly the same but posing as the Asari Councilor was Liara. She had white tattoos all over her face in the exact places where Councilor Tevos had her and wore the councilors dress. Her skin was darker but no doubt it was Liara's face he was looking at. He was 100% positive it was her when she started speaking.]
-Liara: Commander Shepard, once again you have done the impossible. The reapers were undoubtfully the greatest threat the galaxy has ever faced.
-Turian Councilor: But you and your teams will to survive and bonds of friendship proved to be the one thing not even the reapers could defeat.
-Salarian Councilor: The war was devastating and costly. But thanks to you Commander the galaxy will survive and be be rebuilt.
-Liara: Commander we feel awful that we didn't heed your warnings about the reaper threat.
-Turian Counilor: Which is why we have been thinking of ways to make it up to you.
-Salarian Councilor: With Admiral Anderson and Udina dead, Humainty is in need of a councilor.
-Liara: Given everything that has happened the council has elected you as Earths new councilor if you'll take the job ofcourse.
[The crowd behind Shepard went into a frenzy. Shepard didn't know what to do. Was this for real? What was Liara up to and where was Garrus? Shepard looked back at his friends. Some of them were having side conversations about what the council had just done. None of them knew how to react either.]
-Shepard: There must be someone else.
-Turian Councilor: You are the most elligible candidate for this position.
-Salarian Councilor: We understand this is a big decision Commander. So we will give you time to think it over.
-Shepard(Unsure): Thank you.
Liara: Now to more urgent matters.
[Before anything else was said, an explosion went off on one of the left balconies. Panic set in and the civillians ran for it. A few seconds later a second explosion went off on the right balconies. The vibrations shook Shepard to the ground. He looked up at the council. Liara too focused on the destruction, didn't notice the Salarian Councilor take out a gun and aim at her. Luckily it was shot out of his hand by Garrus who had shown up behind him. Liara powered up her biotics to keep the impostor cornered.
-Garrus(Angry): Who do you work for?!
[The Salarian looked out the window and smiled confidently.]
-Salarian: Wouldn't you like to know.
[Liara and Garrus looked out the window to see a C-sec shuttle flying towards them. Liara and the Turian Councilor ran out of the way but Garrus tackled the impostor. The shuttle opened and mercenaries ran out. Garrus tried to aim at them but they swarmed him and knocked him out. The Salarian and and mercenaries rushed back into the shuttle with a unconcious Garrus and took off. Shepard couldn't believe it. It all happened so fast. Him and Liara looked at eachother in disbelief. It was felt like Thessia all over again only this time they had lost a friend. The team ran to Shepard.]
Shepard(demanding): Everyone ge back to the Normandy. We've got work to do!
