AN: Hey guys~ I hope you enjoy this fic. It kind of came to me while I was in the shower. This will definitely be a multichapter fic and I'm writing the second chapter already. So I hope you enjoy and I'm sorry if the first chapter is a little bit slow.
Mathias grinned as he watched the new family move in across the street. They had a boy his age, giving him someone to play with.
After a bit of watching he got the courage to speak to the boy, "Hey!" He calls, waving at the boy.
He ignored him and Mathias called out again, louder this time. This caught the boy's mother's attention,
"Well hello there, little one. What is your name?"
She was doing something funny with her hands as she spoke and Mathias though it was weird but he soon replied, "My name is Mathias Køhler and I live across the street! How come he's ignoring me?"
Again the boy's mother spoke, using her hands again, "He can't here anything. You must speak to him using something called sign language."
Mathias nodded a bit, "Can you tell him my name, and that I want to be friends?"
"Here, why don't I show you?"
The messy haired boy nodded and she proceeded to show him.
He grinned and happily signed to the boy, who signed back.
"What did he say?" Mathias asked curiously.
"He said his name is Lukas and he would love to be friends with you."
He nodded and ran home, waving to the boy and his mother.
He soon burst into the kitchen, "Mor, Mor, I made a friend! Oh can I learn sign language?"
His mother laughed at her son's enthusiasm, "Why do you want to learn sign language?"
"My new friend can't hear and I wanna be able to talk to him."
Mrs. Køhler smiled, "Of course, lets go get you some books from the library.
A few months later after learning sign language more thoroughly Mathias and Lukas didn't have to play with Lukas's mother around to translate.
The two boys were as happy as could be and they soon vowed to be friends forever.
They didn't realise how true that would be.
