~You Are The Sun~
You are the sun shining down on everyone
Light of the world giving light to everything I see
Rachel Duncan stared out the full wall window.
Outside, the night was bustling. Streetlights flickered.
No sound reached through the sound proof glass.
She thought it would sound like excitement, adrenaline, and lost dreams.
Beauty so brilliant I can hardly take it in
And everywhere you are is warmth and light
Sarah Manning felt her shoulders droop under the weight of her reality.
The DYAD building loomed over head. For once, it looked inviting.
Like a prison she would walk in with willing wrists.
Maybe, she thought, just a night. Away from Beth's life.
And I am the moon with no light of my own
Still you have made me to shine
Rachel Duncan pressed her forehead against the cool glass.
Her mind wandered to the train station, her toes,
hanging over the line until- No, she thought, Not tonight.
But her identical's blushing pink cheeks would not relent.
And as I glow in this cold dark night
I know I can't be a light unless I turn my face to you
Sarah Manning tossed her hood over her head.
Threw her shoulders back, forcing a confident aura.
Not like it would matter. It would seem like she was willingly giving up.
When, in reality, she knew who was waiting for her.
You are the sun shining down on everyone
Light of the world giving light to everything I see
Rachel Duncan heard a lock click behind her.
"Hello?" she heard. A soft voice for a hardened soul.
She turned. A smile, a real one, graced her red lips.
"Hello, my moon," she murmured to Sarah Manning.
Beauty so brilliant I can hardly take it in
And everywhere you are is warmth and light
"Hey, Rachel," Sarah returned, feeling a calm feeling take her.
Across her, Rachel stood, tall, fair, radiant, beautiful.
"What?" Rachel asked, dropping her head to look through eyelashes.
"You…," Sarah started, surprising herself, "Must be the sun."
And I am the moon with no light of my own
Still you have made me to shine
Rachel let the blush rise to her cheeks, "Thank you.
What are you doing here?" Sarah shrugged, crossing to her.
Rachel looked down at her, taller only because of her heels.
Sarah reached for Rachel's hand, answering, "Something stupid."
And as I glow in this cold dark night
I know I can't be a light unless I turn my face to you
The pair of identicals kissed for the first time.
Rachel's lips were soft, like her laugh, soothing.
Sarah's lips were full, smoother than they appeared.
The pair of identicals did not let of each other's hand.
Shine on me with your light
Without you I'm a cold dark stone
Arms bent around waists, lips tugged gently.
Sarah pulled Rachel against her, pressing their bodies together.
Rachel cupped Sarah's chin, holding her even tighter.
They caught their breath they pulled apart, smiling.
Shine on me I have no light of my own
You are the sun, you are the sun, you are the sun
"You're so beautiful, Sarah." "And you, Rachel, really are the sun."
And I am the moon
