I add my thanks to Mrs, Rowling for her wonderful characters and world that inspires the imagination.
The weather in Wiltshire was horrendous, a mixture of snow, sleet, and rain. The winds howled from the north, bringing with them the approaching winter. Severus Snape had been summoned by the Dark Lord, but Voldemort had not yet arrived himself. He was still in Bulgaria, though no one was quite sure why. A roaring fire in the parlors kept the cold at bay, Severus sat staring into it's depths.
His thoughts wandered, he was remembering Lily and he sitting in her mother's kitchen while Lily baked. She had made the best lemon cakes with orange flavoured chocolate icing. Her green eyes flashing at him, her smile as captivating as Devil's Snare. How he longed for her warm laugh.
Yaxley interrupted his reverie. "Severus, what a day. Why do you think we have been summoned?"
"How should I know, Yaxley. Am I to read the Dark Lords mind now?" Severus answered coldly.
"I was just curious is all. What's wrong with you?" Yaxley countered, "We are all bored and curious."
"Hmm," was all Severus answered.
Getting to his feet, Severus left Yaxley standing in the parlour looking at him askance. Severus found his way to the Malfoy kitchens. They looked as if they had not been used since that Potter had freed their house-elf, there were many boxes from various eat-out restaurants. Severus opened the cold-box and found eggs and milk that seemed a bit spoiled. With a wave of his wand they were once again fresh.
He found flour and baking soda in the pantry with some fruit and sugar. Before he was aware of it, his cloak was hanging from the door and he was covered by a light layer of flour, his batter mixing by itself while he put wood in the stove, lighting it with his wand.
Within the hour he had two dozen cupcakes baking. He mixed what he thought would make chocolate icing, adding the zest of several oranges. He mixed up two batches, one chocolate and one orange. When the lemon cakes had cooled he spread them generously with the chocolate icing, using the orange to write the names of the other Death Eaters upon them. He saved three cakes for the Dark Lord.
There was a crash and the front door opened to let in a rather wet and irritable Lord Voldemort. He was cross and called everyone into the dining room. As the Death Eaters took their seats, the one to Voldemort's right was empty. "Where is Severus?" he hissed.
"I am here," said Snape, entering with a tray, there was a steaming tea pot and a platter of cakes. Severus handed each Death Eater his own personalised cake. When they all had tea, he turned to the Dark Lord, "For you my liege," he said, setting three cakes before him.
Upon the cakes, in orange icing, read, I'm so evil. The Dark Lord looked up, a tear in his eye. "You always did know how to make me feel better, Severus, now let us eat."
