Kate's eyes fluttered open to see a light shining through the crack of the door. She bit her lip as she got out of bed. She tucked her feet in to her warm slippers by the bed, sneaked through the crack of the door and wandered down the hall. She nervously held her arms tight to her chest as she waited outside the dining room. Kate brought one arm out and knocked on the door, biting her lip as she waited for a reply.
"Yeah, babe. Come in." replied her husband. So Kate took the chance and stepped into the room. "Hey, honey…um." Kate paused as she looked at the men around the table. She went up and stood next to Tony. "I noticed it was getting late. And I just wanted to come and check that everything was ok."
"Yeah. Katie, it's alright. We've almost finished this round." Tony replied, then turned his focus to the cards in his hand. Kate just stood and watched. Tony looked back up. "Seriously babe. We're alright. Come 'ere and give me a kiss."
Kate leaned over and gave Kate a kiss on the cheek. "I'll see you in the morning." Kate turned and began to walk out.
"Buenos noches." Tony called as she left.
"Buenos noches." Kate called back.
Kate walked back down the hall and to her bedroom. She slipped off her slippers and got back in to bed.
Two and a half hours later, Tony joined her. He removed his clothes and got in to the bed next to Kate. She was lying on her side, so he spooned her. He snuggled his head to her neck and breathed in her scent. God she's so beautiful.
"You smell like cigars and alcohol." Kate ruined the fun.
"I'm sorry, Kate. I…" Tony tried to explain as Kate turned around in his arms. She placed a gentle kiss on his lips and stroked his unshaven cheek. "Why are you so intimidating to me infront of your friends?"
Tony took a deep breath. "Baby, I don't want to be. But if I don't do it, then I'll lose my job. You don't want me to lose my job, do you?"
"No, but. I think I miss NCIS." Kate replied, biting her tongue after her statement. Oh crap.
"So do I, Katie. But this is the way our lives are now." He kissed Kate on the forehead. "I'm so sorry baby. But I will do anything to protect you from now on."
Kate gave a nod of understanding as she fought to hold the tears back. "No matter what, I will always love you, Kate."
She leaned in and kissed Tony on the lips. "I love you too, Tony."
