My used to be favorite and still hoping for pairing: Merlin/Morgana. A poem of why things are as they are.
Takes place throughout the third season. Do poems even "take place?" I dunno.
Enjoy!
Something Different
What do you think would have happened
Had he not done what he did?
Would she be the same, a heartless monster?
Or could he have seen the love she now hid?
Passing each in the castle halls,
Status comes into play and he bows
But inside they both know, under their masks
A deep and bitter regret has been aroused
Memories flood, the throne room vivid
He handed her the water, an innocent gesture
And she drank it trustingly
Entrusting her life in his lowly stature
The moment is gone, both keep walking
Not knowing the other was thinking the same
That the one moment to ruin their love
May have ended in much less shame
Something different may have happened
Some better advice
Or just some words exchanged
Would have sufficed
But it didn't happen, he protected his land
He poisoned the one he loved
Held her in his arms as her life drained away
Hating every moment and cursing the gods above
A tangle of events, the whole story changed
The girl lived, taken away for a year
He dreaded her return, yet everyone searched
Noticing not the servant's fear
She was found, the kingdom rejoiced
And even he held hope of forgiveness
It never happened, an epic battle ensued
Once budding romance became a hatred no one witnessed
Often when alone
The two would dream of what could have been
A time where they were still friends
Where no one knew of her true kin
Where they could explore their feelings
And discover each other and themselves
Where bitter feelings vanished
And into their passions they could delve
These longing thoughts
Shared with no one else
Filled their waking moments
And invaded their dreams
This was not so; it could never be
And soon this they both understood
And accepted despite the pain
Because destiny is not to be fooled
It knows what is to happen
And what could be
It chooses one or the other
A painful heartbreak could be the fee
The servant and the princess
Once as close as status would allow
Now sworn enemies
Hatred of the other unintentionally vowed
Still one cannot help their dreams
Thoughts of times past
Thoughts of times not to come
Thoughts that can never last
His job is protector
Protector from her plans
An inner battle occurs
Always coming down to what is best for his land
The brainwashed witch
Hatred for the kingdom buried deep
They have both chosen separate ways
Or perhaps it was destiny
But destiny cannot stop their dreams
Dreams becoming ancient
Without all their pain and bitterness
A time of something different
That certainly wasn't as emotional as I wanted it to be, but I haven't written any romantic poetry, so I would love to know whether I did okay. Please, please review!
