A baby born, to laugh and smile

Two loving parents; for a while.

A mother gives a sacrifice-

Not just her sleep; she gives her life

A baby wakes- alone is he

For 10 more years, that's how he'll be

A flash of light, some evil laughter

In his memory- nothing after

No love for baby, not for Harry

He must his own burden carry

Alone in life, yet loved by all

Quite a feat, for one so small

Away to school- a world of magic

A future bright, for past so tragic

Friends, and fun, what more could he ask?

But there's a price to pay- an impossible task

A heart so big, a chance so small

He'll clamber too high, when will he fall?

A balancing act, with life and death

When we he fall? We hold our breath.

He meets a girl: Ginny by name

She's pretty and charming, and he's INSANE!

He risks her life by letting her near!

He loves her so much, and that's his fear.

Aiming, striving, loving, working,

Brave without; within he's hurting

Alive (so far) but for how long?

Crumbling inside, he must be strong

"Our saviour!" the people cry

"He will succeed; for us he'd die!

But he'll survive, he'll see us through

All of our faith, we'll put in you."

The chosen one- the golden boy

The kid who lived, and Dumbledore's toy

Born to live; raised to die

Born to smile, so why does he cry?

But here's a shock: he's gone, he's caught

This hasn't finished how it ought!

He can't have gone, have fled to heaven,

Hagrid's giant's tears deafen.

A miracle worked- the boy survived

Again, so many others died

He struggles on- now for revenge

By killing one, to deaths avenge

The dark lord's gone; he'll not return,

But nor will any loved, we learn

They're looking down, from up above

On us below, the lucky loved

The pain's still there, that ache inside,

Those wounds are open, gaping wide.

Each memory sheds more hurt, and more.

With whom to share the pain of war?

A girl: a woman now it seems,

Her share of hurt, and ache, and screams

At night, he hears her weep and cry:

"No! Not Freddy! He can't die!"

The love seems gone, the hurt remains.

Relations based on mutual pain.

Dysfunctional, not words but meanings.

Outside: smiles, inside: screaming.

Naming, hating, hurting, shaming,

Living in the past, and blaming.

Desperately trying to forgive

Themselves, for being the ones to live.
