MORNING RUNS
For as long as he'd been in the Air Force, Cam had taken an early morning run. Whether he was at the Academy, on a base or at the SGC he'd run to clear his mind before the day started.
The past few morning runs, however, were definitely a change from years previous. It wasn't that he kept got lost in the seemingly infinite pathways; that always happened when he arrived in a new place. And it wasn't the lack of breeze around him; at some bases in high summer, the humidity and lack of air movement could drive you crazy. It wasn't even that he was running through the corridors of a top-secret United States spaceship stuck in a time-dilation bubble, with an Ori energy beam headed straight for them. And this definitely wasn't the first time he'd had a grin like this one plastered across his face like a kid who just got what he wanted for Christmas.
"I can't believe you've never taken me on one of your runs before, Cam."
Cam's smile widened and threatened to take over his face. What made this run different from countless others was the long-legged, beautiful, amazing female officer running close beside him, keeping his pace and gently brushing arms every now and then.
"You've never been there when I've left before," Cam replied and glanced sideways at Sam Carter, her face, chest and arms coated in a fine sheen of sweat. He caught his breath; she'd never looked this good before.
Sam laughed and slowed down to stop and stretch at the next corner. Cam came to a stop beside her; hands on thighs, catching his breath, then joined her to stretch against the wall.
He straightened up and gently placed his hands on Sam's waist. She laughed and stopped stretching, turning to face Cam. He kept his hands on her waist, allowing her to turn but still touching.
She placed her hands on his chest, covered in a sweat-drenched t-shirt. She leaned forward so her mouth was so close to his that she could smell the coffee on his breath, gentle and warm on her cooling skin.
"And who's fault is that?" she asked, brushing her lips gently his. Cam swallowed hard.
"Well," he started, licking his lips, "I blame the frat. regs. personally," he replied, tracing the line of Sam's top lip with the tip of his tongue.
"Well I think it was just your inability to risk it and ask me to dinner," she smiled and leaned in again, placing a gentle, lingering kiss on Cam's soft lips.
"And now we get to eat together every darn morning, noon and night," Cam said, exaggerating his Southern accent and grinning down at Sam.
Sam laughed and glanced quickly at the floor then back to Cam's crisp blue eyes, "Along with the others, though. Not quite the same as just the two of us," her hands slid round to Cam's back, just as wet as the front.
"Well, if it's more time alone you want…" Cam raised his eyebrows suggestively, letting go of Sam, a mischievous glint in his eyes and a smirk on his face, "I'll race you!"
With that, Cam took off down the corridor, heading back to his quarters. After taking in the view of Cam's rear, she sighed and ran after him.

By the time they approached the living area, Sam and Cam were as near as sprinting the final straight towards Cam's door.
In their rush and excitement, they were oblivious to General Landry's raised eyebrows as they passed him, and his resigning tut as they pretty much fell into Cam's room, breathlessly giggling, slamming the door shut behind them.
