Strobe Lights and Sleepy Nights

Lights flashed to the beat of the music, their bright colours standing out among that darkness. The strobe was just enough to make anyone and everyone seem restless and beautiful. Mako was drinking, his date somewhere across the room, dancing and in need of a drink of his own.
He swished the alcohol in his cup, the strong smell making him lose all thoughts of reason. The man drank all he had left in one swig, then made way over to Haru.
As par usual, Haru was dancing with a bored look on his face. He felt bodies and people make their way past him, and then felt Mako tugging gently on his shirt. Haru saw the look in his green eyes, and the liquid in his glass. Sternly, he dragged the taller man to a quiet side of the club. The music quieted to a thunderous thumping, rather than earsplitting.
"You know I'm the driver today," Haru warned, "A sober man wouldn't forget. Just how drunk are you?"
"A bit? I dunno," his speech ran slurred, "But everyone is so pretty! You need to see pretty things, too!" Mako sounded his a child, a drunk child.
"You're too hammered. Come. It's already one anyway. We're going home." Haru grabbed his boyfriend's hand, and directed him outside.
Mako hiccoughed and rambled all the way to the car. He revealed that he did indeed love puppies, and that Gou loved puppies too, and they loved Haru because he had puppy eyes. Haru resisted the urge to vomit. Once arriving to the car Haru opened the passenger door, watching Mako dizzily slip inside, then took the wheel.
Luckily, the sky was clear. Both students had plenty of time to be hungover, seeing as their final year of university would begin in two days, and somebody with oh-so dazzling blue eyes remembered to stop my petrol earlier that day. All in all, the short drive back was fairly uneventful. Mako said that Nagisa was also a puppy, and that Rei was more of a cat. However, other that learning the spirit animals of his friends nothing happened to Haru.
The apartment was old. The carpeted hallways smelled like American football equipment and garlic. The elevator was pouring over with cigarette smoke. The smokey smell wasn't the only unwelcome thing in the elevator though. In the time it took to go from ground floor to the fourth. Meaning that in about three seconds Mako said he wanted to "have a serious talk about the future and puppies".
Haru sighed, the future and puppies was not a conversation he wanted to have. He'd known Mako for as long as he could remember, surely their future would go somewhere, but where he had no idea. Instead the young man had a vice grip on his boyfriend, and pulled him into their small flat.
"Mako, you need to lie down." Haru directed him to one of two small bedrooms, where Mako stripped down to his boxers and got comfy on the bed. As he was just about to go to his own room, Haru heard a sound.
"I'll be quiet if you let me hold onto you." The light haired man had cooed. His pale green eyes were begging, and he began to look very tired. Haru rolled his eyes. He quickly changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt, and sat next to Mako.
Haru made sure his posture was just right for Mako, and let his boyfriend's head rest in the crook of his neck. Soon enough both men was asleep, their fingers laced hand in hand. The quilt was scratchy and the night was far from young, but neither minded. For now at least they in happy.
