To Capture A Storm

Lengthy shadows creeping through the moonlight

An ocean of wind, roaring through trees

Clouds racing against raging currents

The moon sailing serenely through a midnight sky

A whoop, a yell, an intoxicating feeling

Silhouettes slide silently from shadow to shadow

The wind's wild music, pounding in their ears

Laughter, existing for a second, then gone

The game begins again, a relic as the prize

Silent mirth shines within their eyes

Ears straining to hear the slightest sound

Or'er the tempests wild cries

The game draws to an end

Farewells called on the wind

Goodnight moon

Goodnight stars

Until we meet again

A/N: This first piece in A Garden of Words was inspired from a game created by me, my sister and our cousin. The charming game of Ninja and the Defender is played with two to three people, one of whom is the Defender, the other two are Ninja. You need an object to be the "relic" and it must be somewhere within the designated area that the Defender cannot leave. The object of the game is for the Ninja to get in, get the relic and get out without being "slain" by the Defender. A blow to the ribs is how you are "slain." If you are successful and are the first one to get the relic, you become the Defender for the next round.
