The Leonine Experience, Part I
Chapter 1
"Well, this is it guys! Now what?"
Amy, Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails all stood on the vast plain, watching as the wind whipped at the yellow grass.
"Now," Sonic said, "we wait."
The four friends had been sent to Africa on a "leonine experience". So now, they were there. Amy's question seemed to be thickly hanging in the air: "Now what?"
Sonic suddenly fell, rolling on the ground. His tail grew out, and received a fluffy tip. A thick mane grew, with his nine quills becoming bangs dangling into his green eyes. He was a lion. His fur suddenly changed from blue to brown, with a black mane. He rose up, noticing his paws, and padded around.
Sonic noticed Tails and Knuckles drop, writhing as Knuckles's dreadlocks became a long-fringed mane, and rushed to a nearby stream.
"Sheesh, I look like Kovu."
Sonic gazed at his reflection, and then awkwardly stuck out his tongue to drink. When he raised his head, he noticed a small lioness. She had green eyes, three bangs, and fur colored pale tan, hinted by a light hue of pink.
"Hey, Sonikuu!"
Sonic realized who the lioness was.
"Amy, I told you not to call me that!"
"I'll never understand men...Ooh, look-it!"
"What?"
Amy extended her new claws, admiring them in the afternoon sunlight.
"You think these could withstand polish?"
Sonic fondly ruffled Amy's bangs before moving on to Knuckles and Tails. Tails was busy glancing at his tails, flipping them around. Knuckles ran a paw through his reddish-brown mane, which bore a set of dreadlocks.
Knuckles gulped.
"Sonic...what next?"
