Legends tell of the mythical land of Hyrule
A land where peace and prosperity reigned
Where great Heroes rose to the call of freedom
And where even the smallest deed could have great consequences
These are only the myths and legends
I know the true land, and the real occurences
Hyrule was not as it is painted today,
For history is always written by the victor
Hyrule was not a land of peace and riches
Poverty and bloodshed ran rampant in the streets
The royals kept their gold hidden in secret troves
With them in the tombs or hidden in the apple groves
The wars were constant
Young men forever bearing arms
For the knights would never fight
They hid in their manors sending servants into the light
And one day the kingdom reached its darkest hour
With peasents dead and earls fleeing
Before the Great Lord Ganandorf
Who's very visage began to morph
Burning as the war waged on
A cunning princess devised a devilish plan
To take the power sealed away from them
And use it to to secure the realm
To this end she sent her spies
To seek with their web of lies
Those who were worthy of releasing the golden power
But whose souls she could cause to cower
North, east, south and west they went
Looking for one who's will could be bent
And only when they reached the sacred forest
Did they find the one who's heart was purest
They bade him come, to protect his land
To save it from evil's cold hand
But to their dismay he answered nay
His sister near death's door lay
He could not leave her side, he said
To let her join the legions of dead
That it was his desire to end the war
But that this task was too great a chore
Inside the secret servants grinned
Their goal had been completed in the land of wind
A boy who's fate they could control
With the life of one insignificant girl
They took the girl and hid away
At the castle where only the princess' order could belay
They healed her sickly body
And took her prisoner to force a hand
The boy's fate they now controlled
He was sent far to the lands of old
Told to gather great objects three
To ransom his sister alive and free
Deep within his shadowy home
He found the first magic tome
An emerald who's shining beauty
Bathed the land in new found glory
Next far away by mountains gray
And in the deep blue Jabu bay
He found the ruby and sapphire
Who together could extinguish the land's fire
The boy returned now to the castle north
From whence he had long ago set forth
And on the great doors he did pound
Until a mighty force pushed him toward the ground
The guard took the last great keys
From the mountains, lakes and great trees
He laid them at the princess' feet
Who took them to a pedestal to meet
She placed them in their ancient holds
Who fit into the long old molds
Then the boy she called up to stand
And on the sacred sword place his hand
She then took the golden power that did appear
And did what her enemy had known to fear
She remade the very earth in her name
Destroying or creating, to her all was the same
She tore down buildings and destroyed civilizations
Removed from history many great nations
And last of all she took the foe
And forced his shape to that of a crow
Away, she called to the new bird
Leave our land to never return
For Hyrule stands a land alone
It shall be built anew upon your fighters bones
Return, she said now to the boy in front of her
And stay in your land of forest lore
Tell none of what you have seen today
For if you do, take your soul I may
The boy left, scared and frightened of what he had seen wrought
Terrified at the price his sister he had bought
They ran far beyond the forest's walls
Into a different world's halls
How do I know this you may ask?
How do I in true history's tale bask?
If you trace back my father's line
I am the descendant of the great Hero of Time
