A/N: Well, I found this in a notebook I thought I had lost... Hopefully you like it! As usual, I have no idea where this plot bunny came from, and I own neither series.
"Follow the spiders? Why couldn't it have been follow the butterflies?" complained a young red-haired boy whose skin was mostly composed of freckles.
Still, he began to follow his black-haired friend, bravely fighting down his fear with no more than a few whimpers… until a spider the size of his fist ran across his foot.
"AAAGH!" he screeched, darting off into the woods, away from the line of spiders.
"Ron!" his friend called, but his voice soon faded into the distance.
This is how Ron found himself in the dark woods, alone, with what he was sure some girl had described as the sound of a Blibbering Humdinger creeping up behind him. Or it could have been the sound of someone coughing. He wasn't sure. Still, when he saw a shimmering, jewel-like butterfly flitting about in front of him, he knew what he had to do—follow it and avoid being eaten by the Blabbing Humwhatsits.
And hey, it led to a whole field of butterflies! Briefly he wondered how Harry was doing following the spiders and guilt set in momentarily, but he quickly pushed it away.
"Enjoying my Tease, are you?" asked a deep voice from behind him.
"Gah!" he exclaimed, jumping, seeking an explanation. "Umm… I didn't want to follow the spiders?"
The man smiled. "Yes, spiders certainly can be scary, but what about butterflies?"
Ron laughed. And then every butterfly in the field turned slowly towards him, opening their mouths and showing long, pointy teeth.
Oh, Hagrid's butt crack… "Harry? Please! I want to follow the spiders!"
