"What?"
It took Nate a moment to realize the loud bang was a gunshot, and the red stain filling the front of Sully's shirt affirmed it. Shock overtook him, what had just happened? Once it hit him, fear struck him dead center in the chest, like he'd been shot, too.
"No.."
Sully fell forward into Nate's arms, revealing Talbot and Marlowe in the distance, Talbot wearing a smug grin, the sniper rifle was held snug in his hands, smoking from the recent shot, admiring his work. Marlowe flashed a small smile and the two turned, walking down towards the central elevator.
Nate slowly set Sully down, his face turning a pale white. Sully can't die, not like this. Nate's emotions were all over the place, but as he held Sully's body, reality was slowly setting in, and his heart was instilled with fear. He shouldn't have brought Sully here, he shouldn't have made him tag along, but they were so close...
"No...please!" Nate said softly, staring at Sully's horrified face, he wasn't breathing, he wasn't blinking, the life had been drained from the only man he truly trusted and looked up to as a father figure and his real true friend.
"Sully..."
Nate backed up as he said his name, stricken with fear and grief, scared. Slowly, the central elevator Talbot and Marlowe were headed to opened, and they stepped in. Nate felt 100 different emotions, fear, panic, hate, sorrow, anger just to name a few, but he wanted nothing more than to shoot Talbot and end his pathetic life, and strangle Marlowe for allowing such a horrific thing to happen to Sully.
Nate charged forward, leaping down to the lower level with a grunt, pulling his pistol from his holster. He was going to kill that mother fucker, and make that bitch pay for what happened.
"Talbot, you son of a bitch, get back here!" He shouted as the doors to the elevator closed just as he reached it. He kicked the door as hard as he could in rage.
Suddenly enemies started appearing, although Nate wasn't sure where from. He turned, and as one began firing at him, he dived out of the way just in time, and shot him in the chest several times. Suddenly, he exploded in a burst of flame and appeared to be some sort of skeleton with flames surrounding him. Nate was shocked, but he had no time to gawk in awe, the enemy charged forward, firing his weapon at a rapid rate.
Nate ran up a small staircase and dove behind a small half-wall, taking cover from the hail of gunfire. More enemies began approaching, raising the tensity.
What the hell was going on?
