Trees and forests he dwelled in,
his land so old and ancient,
of the Company who passed many a fen,
he who felt young among the Ent.
Fair and beautiful to look upon,
tall and slender and a wonder,
he who could see far in the dawn,
and of whom I have been kept asunder.
With blessed bow and hands,
with naught much to fear,
he slew many a foe in faraway lands,
of which no one shall ever hear.
And sadly he sailed away,
over the Sea never to return,
to leave me weeping night and day,
and of my love he did not learn.
O Legolas! return to me!
Return my Lord; return my life!
Such love do I have for thee,
that I shall die if not made thy wife!
