Summary: Missing scene for 'Internal Affairs'
Disclaimer: Don't own a damn things
Spoiler: Internal Affairs/ Going, Going, Gone
Pairing: CaKe
A/N: I totally thought that this should have happened at the end of 'Internal Affairs". And I personally would love to see this actually happen. I just couldn't stand the absence of interaction between Calleigh and Jake.
Jake heard her coming before he actually saw her. But once she rounded that corner and locked him into her sight, he knew he was done for. And knowing from prior experience, the wrath of that 5'3'' blonde was worse than any mobster or drug dealer combined.
"Detective." He greeted, trying to hide his smirk. She just walked right up to him and punched him hard in the shoulder. "Ow…"
"You jerk!" She exclaimed with a scowl. Jake looked at her, bewildered.
"What was that for?!" He shouted as he rubbed his hand over the spot. She just stared up at him intensely, trying not to let the almost twelve inch height difference affect her.
"That's for your one track mind. I can't believe you would do that to Natalia and Maxine." She explained hostilely.
"I was doing my job, Cal. One that I am trying very hard not to screw up." He defended. She rolled her eyes.
"That wasn't doing your job. That was you being like a dog with bone. You knew Natalia was Nick's ex wife and so you automatically assumed that she was guilty as sin. And because Maxine admitted that they fought, you then jumped to the conclusion that they were both in on it. You didn't care what happened to them as long as your ass was covered." Now it was Jake's turn to roll his eyes.
"Oh don't preach to me, Cal. You and I both know that the evidence looked bad for both of them." He said knowingly. Calleigh's stare turned about ten degrees colder.
"No, what I know is that you had assumptions, not evidence." Jake shook his head.
"You know, you CSI's are all the same." Calleigh raised an eyebrow.
"Us CSI's?"
"Yeah. I just got the same damn speech from your fearless lieutenant, who happened to be the one who assigned me this damn case. He set me up to fail." Jake accused. Calleigh shook her head.
"Horatio didn't set you up to fail. He was trying to give you a chance. He wanted to see what you were capable of, how you handle yourself on a case. And you let your foolish pride get in the way." Jake stayed silent. He knew that she was right but there was no way in hell he would give her the satisfaction of being right a second time.
"What to do you want me to say, Cal? I'm sorry?"
"Don't say it to me. Say it to them." Calleigh pointed to the DNA techs that were exiting PD.
"No way. I'm not apologizing to them." He said, disgusted that she would even suggest the idea.
"You are so frustrating, Jake Berkeley." She frowned as she shook her head. When she finally looked at him again, he couldn't wipe the smile of his face. "What?"
"You know, you look really hot when you're mad." He smirked. She pursed her lips to keep herself from smiling, but she could never stay mad at him when he smiled like that.
"Well, you look ridiculous. Who dressed you?" She asked, hiding her smile. Jake looked down at his outfit and then back up at her.
"I'm trying to make a good first impression." He said, fixing his coat a little. She just looked at him.
"And what impression would that be? I get dressed in the dark?" She asked, only half kidding. He sneered.
"Well, we can't all look like supermodels, now can we?." He quipped. She just gave him a mega watt smile before turning and walking away. "So, your place around 7:30? I was thinking Chinese." He called out after her. She looked over her shoulder at him.
"You're buying. Oh and Jake?" She turned around so that she could walk backwards. "Change your clothes. Us supermodels have a certain reputation to keep."
