"Yuffie's like a disease."
Aerith's eyebrows shot up in absolute shock, and she stared at Cloud with a slightly open mouth, unable to believe he had just said such a thing. "Wh-what?" she spluttered.
He cast a small glance at her, a smile curving one side of his mouth upwards. "Not in a bad way," he continued as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "It's a good thing."
Across from them in the Café, Cid began to nod along. "Yeah, I see what you mean," he said, glancing at said young girl. She was in the middle of the square singing her heart out to some song or another. Sora had given her the idea of "karaoke" weeks ago, but he had only just now returned with something called a boom box for her to sing to. She knew all the songs, somehow or another, and was currently trying to coerce Squall to join her in a duet. He glared darkly at her, arms crossed over his chest, looking like he wouldn't budge for the life of him. But he was there with her all the same, rather than with Aerith, Cloud, and Cid in the relative safety of the Café, and that in itself was surprise enough.
"Could someone please explain to me why we're calling Yuffie a disease?" Aerith asked, exasperated with the whole deal.
Cloud and Cid exchanged a glance before the former turned to the pouting flower girl. "It's like this: Yuffie would rub off on anyone. She's hyper and cheerful and people can't help but grow fond of her whether they want to or not." He jerked his chin towards Squall. "Like Leon. A month ago he would have laughed at the very idea of this karaoke thing and hidden in his room. But when Yuffie proposed it and literally dragged him out here? He didn't leave, now did he? And he smiles more – mostly at her, but still. So, you see, she's rubbed off on him. She's infectious."
"Like a disease," Cid finished, still nodding.
Aerith let out her breath slowly, shaking her head in amazement. "While I agree with you guys about Yuffie being infectious," she said, "it's not the same as calling her like a disease. I mean, most people aren't fond of diseases."
"Right," Cloud agreed, completely baffling Aerith once again. "But Leon wasn't fond of her at all in the beginning, now was he?"
"But that still isn't logical," she argued. "I mean, even if you learn to live with a disease and put up with it, you still don't love it. No one becomes fond of a disease, while Leon is obviously fond of Yuffie whether he admits it out loud or not!"
Cid rolled his eyes while Cloud merely smiled at her. They didn't bother arguing further, and Aerith sat back with a heavy sigh.
Men. Idiots, the lot of them.
Cliffie: :) That was fun to do. Cloud and Cid are such freaks. I'm not sure if that made any sense whatsoever, but that's okay. /cheesy grin/ Hope you guys enjoyed it! Thanks for reading!
