This is my first fanfiction, and I have been thinking about making one for a while. Bren Tenkage inspired me to finally create one. I decided against making a fic about the Courier, because I have always been more interested in the Enclave and NCR factions. This story is not based strictly upon the NCR or even the Enclave Remnants, and will span to greater extents as it goes along. Please review and favorite!
Disclaimer: The game, most characters, part of the storyline, most of the factions, and weapons are owned by Bethesda Softworks and Obsidian.
"Boy, you better not die on this mission. You are a valuable asset to our cause." Father made it clear since day one that I was nothing more than another expendable weapon. More expensive or flashy maybe, but just another weapon. "I'm proud to call you my boy. No one has shot up in rank so quickly. And you're only 14 years old, my son!" Killing the enemy made my father happy. That was what I needed to do. He was First Advisor Silvers, the man behind the strategy, Eden's backbone. Unlike Colonel Autumn, he admired the Lone Wanderer. According to him, the Wanderer was a "strategic genius." But I knew. He was just a lucky fool with a motive. It wasn't until he attacked, until he blew up our last big station in the Capital Wasteland, did I get my motive. No, not redemption, for the shut-down President Eden, or my father, killed in the battle against Liberty Prime, not even fear, of the Lone Wanderer; my motive was freedom. With the knowledge that I could fly about without the shackles of the poor excuse for a government I had lived for, I felt powerful. I climbed into one of the few working Vertibirds, and took off into unfamiliar territories. The year is 2277, and I am currently nearing the Mojave Wasteland...
The boy, known as Anthony Silvers, had crashed and landed near an NCR Ranger Station. Surprised to find a 15 year old in Tesla Armor from the Capital, The NCR arrested him and interrogated him once he awoke. "Where...Where am I?" Anthony asked out loud, glancing left to right. "You are in the NCR's Delta Station, and you are under arrest for treason." Said a man in Veteran Armor. "NCR?" asked Anthony. He had never heard the term. "New California Republic. The only stable government, more powerful than the Brotherhood of Steel." The man informed him. "We want you to help us liberate the Hoover Dam by activating the generator if you want freedom." He told Anthony. "Without my gear?" Anthony was shocked. "If we gave you your gear, you might escape. We will return it upon your success." The man sounded like the chances for survival were low. "Ok." Anthony said. The man was surprised, but nevertheless attached a Pip-Boy 3000 to Anthony and set coordinates for the Hoover Dam. "Good luck." Said the man to Anthony, before handing him a scoped hunting rifle. "Tell them Jefferson sent you."
Four Years Later, 2281
"...And so, we are honored to grant Anthony Silvers the title of Ranger!" Applause was heard, and Anthony was awarded a small bronze metal. He was on his way to become a Veteran Ranger, just a few more years. He was 19, and one of the only power armored NCR troops. After he helped liberate Hoover Dam, Anthony went on to aid in the takeover of HELIOS One from the Brotherhood of Steel, and was given his gear back. Jefferson had taken Anthony under his wing, but his independent training time had begun. He had to leave for the Mojave, and spread the NCR's word across the Wasteland. Anthony walked off the stage, and shook hands with Jefferson. "Good luck, kid." Jefferson said to Anthony. "Thanks, old man." With that, Anthony went to the front entrance of Hoover Dam, and opened it's doors, beginning his journey as the light poured in.
