Feliks had fallen on the playground. He knee was scratched and bleeding and he winced in pain. Kids were only staring at him as he rubbed his eyes free of tears, though more fell. He whimpered as he saw someone run up to him.

Lovino frowned when he saw the boy fall. Why was no one helping him? He took a large band-aid his older brother, Antonio, had him keep on his person out and gently placed it on the boy's cut. For that, he received a hug, a tight one, from the unnamed boy.

"Better?" Lovino asked, patting the boy on the back. The boy nodded into his shoulder.

"U-Uh huh…" He sniffled, rubbing his eyes dry. "W-Who are y-you?" He asked softly.

"I'm Lovino Vargas. You can call me Lovi," Lovino smiled when the other boy let go.

"I'm Feliks Łukasiewicz! You can call me Feliks!" Feliks chirped up, suddenly feeling much better. He stood up and pulled Lovino up. "I'm Polish~!"

"I'm Italian," Lovino stated, nodding. "Do you want to be my friend Feliks?"

Feliks nodded, "Yes I do Lovino!" He smiled sweetly and tugged his new friend off. He found a baseball in the tall grass and picked it up.

"Feliks….Why are there people staring at us?" Lovino frowned.

"They're not nice to me. They always stare at me but I ignore them like my Mommy told me to do~!" He grinned big and proud, tossing the ball to his friend.

"What's it like to have a mommy?" Lovino asked, catching the ball. He tossed it back to Feliks, frowning slightly.

Feliks caught the ball, tilting his head. "It's nice! Mommies are so nice! Why don't you have one…I thought everyone did." He frowned in a confused manner, tossing the ball back to Lovino.

"I live in an orphanage…The lady who runs it is mean and her husband is abusive. They starve me and beat me and lock me up in my room for days on end…" Lovino's eyes got dull and he dropped the ball, starting to cry. Feliks ran over and hugged his friend tightly as a teacher walked over.

"Feliks what happened?" She asked, bending down so she was at the same level as the little 2nd graders.

Feliks held his friend tight and looked at the teacher. "My friend lives in a mean place!" He said. The teacher just tilted her head so he went on, "He lives with mean people! They hurt him!"

Lovino looked up at Feliks and Feliks smiled at Lovino. The teacher picked the two up and carried them inside. She set them down on a counter and lifted Lovino's shirt to reveal bruising on her chest and stomach. Feliks tilted his head.

"I'm fine," Lovino said, sending a reassuring smile to Feliks, who would have none of that.

"No you're not!" He almost yelled, scooting closer to his friend and protectively hugging him.

Meanwhile, their teacher had called the only orphanage she knew of in their small coastal town. She made arrangements with the couple to come down to the school. When they arrived, they had her sign about 5 sheets of paper. Lovino looked on.

"She just adopted me, Feliks!" He smiled graciously and Feliks hugged him tightly.

"That's good, right?" Feliks asked, tilting his head sweetly as Lovino nodded, causing Feliks to hug him tighter.

And so the two ran back outside to play ball, Lovino's new mom watching from the doors of the school building. She had technically just adopted two Kids, one of whom she knew was a sweetheart and the other she would meet later. And oddly, she felt as if the blonde would become a very big part of Lovino's life.
