It's a one-sided Snaketoad drabble. There were almost no fanfics about these two (and I'm pretty fond of the pairing), so I wrote a few hundred words. I sincerely apologize if it's horrible.

Toad worried often that he would wake up in an unfamiliar bed one day, with no idea where he was and no way of contacting his family for help. An oddly specific fear, to be sure. However, for his oddly specific situation (how many other robots were stalked by a scarily persistent snake robot anyway?), it was entirely valid.

Especially valid now, sitting only seconds after awakening propped up against an unfamiliar cream-colored pillow, clutching unfamiliar cotton sheets and staring into a very familiar pair of slitted red eyes.

He didn't dare move, afraid to provoke the much larger robot sitting at the foot of the bed into striking or some other equally ill-boding action. To his dread, however, despite his best efforts not to initiate an interaction, Snake moved forward anyway.

He shifted nearer to Toad, the bedsprings creaking faintly under his weight, and reached out, his fingertips resting on Toad's face. The amphibian robot blanched, trembling, as Snake lovingly stroked his cheek, holding eye contact all the while.

"Ah," Snake murmured with a pleased smile, "it's good to see you awake."

Toad wanted to shrink away, or maybe hide under the covers like a small child, but fear froze him in place. He felt petrified, the only movement in his body the involuntary shivering and icy terror squeezing his chest. A shaky whimper escaped him.

His captor's smile softened at the noise.

"Shhh. I won't hurt you," he soothed, and curled his tail around the smaller robot's could do nothing but listen to the panicky racing of his core and watch as Snake's hands clasped around his own, forcing the fabric of the sheets out of his grasp and intertwining the two's fingers.

Snake gave a half-enunciated hum of surprise and observed, "Your hands are cold..."

In its haste, Toad's core skipped a pulse. He didn't know what might upset the larger, more powerful robot, but he was afraid any small offense might mean death or something as horrible.

He was already kidnapped; being murdered for not being up to expectations wasn't a far stretch.

Quietly, his throat almost too dry to speak, he whispered, "I'm sorry..."

Snake's expression lit up happily, his eyes almost seeming to glow. "I love hearing your voice," he purred. Toad felt the grip on his hands tighten before the reptilian robot continued, "It's not your fault. Besides..."

The chills down Toad's spine intensified. Maybe he should have been reassured that Snake wasn't angry, but his warm, syrupy tone was just as unnerving. He blinked up at him, helpless. Whatever followed would determine his fate.

"...Besides what?" Toad squeaked out. Snake's grin widened. He leaned over, and Toad's face turned from white to a violent red as a kiss was planted on his forehead. "They'll warm up quickly under the covers," Snake finished. The captive only had time for his eyes to widen in alarm before he was swept close by the tail wrapped around him and Snake rolled them both down onto the bed.

What exactly is meant by the ending is up to your interpretation.
