Destined
I have always believed
That you and I were meant to be
But then everything fell apart

That choice I made destroyed us
It shattered all our dreams
I thought that I still had a chance
But nothing is as it seems
I know you didn't understand

Why I refused to believe it was over
No matter how many times you said no
You were all that I had left
The one thing to which I could hold on
Then everything went to Hell
And suddenly you were gone
I tried to make it up to you
Tried so hard to make you see
But my choice had destroyed everything
And things were no longer meant to be
I couldn't accept life without you
So I chose death instead
I thought that all the pain would end
When I was finally dead
It's over for me now
No more trying to win you back
Because I had my chances
And failed to pick up the slack
But I still love you
And I always will
There will always be an emptiness inside
That only you could fill
Even though you cannot hear me
I hope you remember the words I wrote
That day I wanted so badly for it to end
When I thought out my suicide note
I was dead before I met you
Born the day you loved me
And that love will keep me alive
Forever
I hope in time your pain will fade
That your life won't be ruined because of me
I'll love you forever, Phoebe
But maybe it just wasn't meant to be.
Author's Note: I wrote this as another one of my tributes to Cole Turner, a character who deserved much better than he got. I believe that Phoebe and Cole were indeed meant to be, and I also believe that the writers owe it to his fans to create a better closure for him, instead of simply leaving him vanquished, like some demon of the week. That note he wrote to Phoebe always makes me cry when I read it. Please take the time to review, let me know that I'm not the only one who will never forget Cole Turner. I'll leave you with a quote: "I'm not giving up on us, Phoebe. Ever." May his soul rest in peace.
