I do not own this, it's not mine!
PROLOGUE with much more to follow
If you would have asked me before today, what I would have changed in my life, I would have said nothing. Then again that was yesterday and today is a new day. I Hermione Granger have just signed my life away. The realization didn't strike until the ink settled into the parchment with letters of blood. What have I done, as time seemingly stands still. Moving away from the condemning document the serenity of the moment is broken as the totality of this actions registers to my mind.
Severus S. Snape potions master observed Hermione as she penned her name onto the contract. He had never thought that this day would come that he would find himself in such a position. The fire crackled in the dark cavernous dungeon. Moving forward across the desk he delicately removes the contract from Hermione's sight.
"You may leave Ms. Granger" Snape utters in a gentle but disturbing timber.
Hermione gave a quick incline of her head to make a swift retreat away from the dungeon in such haste one would have thought the devil himself was chasing her.
Walking blindly down the darkened corridors of Hogwarts a place she once thought of has a haven and home she sees differently now. It has been 3 years since her graduation where she achieved the unthinkable at scoring perfect on her exit exams to find her life not that perfect. The perfection of knowledge is a wonderful endeavor but a never-ending pursuit. So with this lust for knowledge came her undoing and her fall from grace is more akin to an enlightening in the cruelty of reality.
As Hermione walked the halls in shock and slight disbelief Snape was in much the same mood in his study.
Hermione Granger was to be Hermione G. Snape in a very short few months. This was not by any stretch of the imagination a match made in love or lust but one made in understanding. This holly union would be a mockery of the ideals of marriage but it would be a union that served a greater good, or so one would hope.
