I'll Love You Forever

Remus had always been in love with Alice. He loved everything about her, the way she always twirled her hair around her finger whenever she was deep in thought, or how she would flush crimson when she got embarrassed. He even loved all of her flaws. He tried several times to tell her how he felt, but every time he froze up and freaked out.

In their fifth year, he had witnessed a fight between her and her boyfriend, Frank Longbottom, which had resulted in her fleeing from the spot in tears. Remus, of course had ran after her, and soon found her sobbing quietly under an old oak tree. She hadn't noticed him yet, so he sat down next to her and pulled her into a warm embrace. He could feel her whole body tense up but still didn't let go. He wanted to savor this moment, as he felt like he would never get to hold her this close to him again, and gradually, she began to relax into his arms. So, they both just sat there holding each other and to Remus, it all felt so perfect, so right, as if they were meant to be.

They had now graduated Hogwarts, and James and Lily had organized a small get-together at the Potter Residence in Godric's Hollow. Sirius, Remus, Peter, Alice and Frank were invited and they all were present, except Peter. He informed James that he wasn't feeling too well and said that he wouldn't be able to come due to his illness.

(A/N: Just so you know, the real reason Peter didn't come was because he was actually a Death Eater now and skipped out since he had to do an errand for Voldemort, yadda, yadda, yadda)

Halfway through dinner, Frank had stood up and said that he had a very important announcement to make. This had ceased all chatter and caused five heads to turn and look expectantly at Frank. Remus had noticed, that while Frank was taking, Alice was blushing furiously, which had made him all the more curious on what Frank was going to say. Then he found out, and wished he hadn't. Frank and Alice were engaged and were getting married soon. At this, Lily had hugged Alice and James and Sirius had clapped Frank on the back, but Remus was horror-struck, the woman that he had been in love with almost his entire life was getting married. What made it even worse was that she didn't know how he really felt about her. The news had broke his heart and left him wondering if it would ever mend.

And now, here he was, at St. Mungo's watching Alice, his Alice, stare out of the window with a blank expression on her beautiful face, not knowing who the man before her was. Remus couldn't help but let the tears fall. He was mad, mad at Bellatrix Lestrange for torturing Frank and Alice into insanity, mad at himself for not arriving soon enough to save them, but mostly he was mad that he never told her, never told her that he loved her, that she meant the world to him and now, it seemed like he won't ever be able to.
