Winning Over Baker Boy
I never really saw him the way he saw me, but I had started to and I just couldn't stop. Every time he made me sweets, carried my books, or said 'Hi' to me my stomach would turn. And I never did that not even for Troy, who I've given up on since the talent show in summer. And this never happened before. I tried to convince myself it was hate that I felt every time I looked at him, but I knew that wasn't the case.
Lately I've been staying in the auditorium finishing props, or putting outfits together for the fall musical, which I was confident I'd get the lead role. I was painting one of the backdrops when a voice startled me. "Hey Sharpay." I turned around to see him, Zeke. "Hi." I had gone back painting after I spoke to him.
"Do you need any help?" Another thing that got to me was his kindness. "No, but I should eat before lunch ends." I had finished painting and put down the brush only to find Zeke with food spread out on the stage floor. "I thought you hadn't been eating due to the musical so I thought I'd bring you lunch." That was another thing he'd do that would get to me lately. "Did you make it?" I asked as I sat with him. "I did, and I hope you like it." He smiled at me with that smile of his. I had admitted to myself a long time ago that I'd fallen in love with Zeke, but no way could I tell him. Everyone thought I was still chasing Troy.
"If I don't like it I won't eat it you know." I told him, but I doubted I'd dislike it. His cooking was amazing. "Then I'll cook you lunch for you until I make one you like." And there was his determination. I grabbed a bowl and twisted the top to find steaming hot soup. I'd taken a spoon blew on it and took a bite. All while I was trying the food Zeke was staring at me, making me nervous. And Sharpay Evans never gets nervous.
Once I took the bite my face lit up, and you could see the smile on his face. "So I take it you like it?" "I don't." His face fell and I smiled. "I love it." His face lit up once again.
After I was done eating the delicious meal the bell rang signaling that lunch was over. Zeke's once smile had turned into a frown as he started to gather the bowls. "Hey." I said with a tint of anger in my voice, I let him think that I was all nice. "You can cook me lunch for the next two weeks, but in here okay?" His face immediately lit up. "Sure." I got up and started to walk to class smiling as I walked away. Operation win over baker boy was a go.
