Silence
Her heart thundered in her chest as the sword fell from her grip. It clanged painfully against the stone floor. Blood rushed to her ears as he disappeared but she couldn't hear anything. All the sounds in world couldn't reach her here. Not after what she'd done. She should have been able to save him.
Tears rolled down her cheeks in fat droplets as the cold stone figure stared blankly back at her. He was gone and she would never get him back. Would this be what her life was, this heart-wrenching silent void? Was that what she'd earned?
