A very, very, oh-so-important, critical and EXTREMLY urgent meeting with the King. Knowing him, he'd probably just misplaced his party music again.

Maurice rolled his eyes as he wandered into King Julien's room. To his surprise none of the usual avid admirers were around inflating the King's already sky-high ego. Instead King Julien sat alone deep in thought…which looked very strange as he never really did a lot of thinking.

"Maurice! What took you so long? I told you to come to see me straight away!" He snapped when he saw him enter. He looked oddly worried about something.

"What seems to be the problem?" He asked and he shuffled over to sit beside him. Of course being the right-hand-lemur he was aloud to sit next to the Most Glorious One…one of the many names the King insisted people call him.

"The pro-problem?" He whimpered and bit his paw anxiously. Maurice blinked at this sudden change. King Julien was loud and in-your-face not nervous and jittery. He nearly felt like asking if this was an impostor.

"I'm the king right? I've got the crown so that makes me the king, which makes me the best…right?" He shook Maurice's shoulders violently. "Right?"

"Yes, you're the king, okay. You're in charge, you're the best," he reassured him giving him a firm shake back.

"See, if I'M the best and if I'M the greatest, then I should be above these feelings, shouldn't I? I feel like a teenager, Maurice! A king should not be getting these…these…THOUGHTS!" He shouted, eyes bugging out slightly.

Whoa…wait a sec, did he hear right? King Julien developing feelings towards someone OTHER then himself? Everyone knew the King's one true love was himself…he had an ego as high as a kite.

"Julien, calm down. Just because you're the king doesn't mean you can't feel affectionate for somebody. It's perfectly normal."

The King was often calmed down by Maurice's soothing logic. Today was an exception. Instead of being calmed down he did the exact opposite.

"No, no, no! It is NOT normal, Maurice! It isn't! It's weird and I don't like it! You have to figure something out! You have to stop it!" He shrieked his arms waving around manically, terror etched in his face.

Maurice edged away slightly, feeling alarmed. Maniacal Julien was more normal then Nervous Julien…but he still didn't like it that much.

"Why don't you tell me who she is first?" He asked and the King stopped in his tracks. Now Nervous Julien was back with a vengeance and he tensed up, refusing to make eye-contact with Maurice.

"Er…it's not a…" the King mumbled twisting his claws together. "…it's not a…girl."

Maurice paused and stared at him for a few minutes.

"Okay, why don't you tell me who HE is?"

Julien didn't answer. He started fiddling with his crown and tapping his foot. Being the right-hand lemur to a not-quite-bright king had taught Maurice that patience was a virtue. So he waited.

Then he noticed something…the King was looking at him rather strangely. Something clicked in his mind and his eyes widened in shock.

"Wait…wait a sec," he stuttered, jumping up. He was the guy on the sidelines, wasn't he? The guy who kept things in order while Julien took the credit. Not the…

"See, I told you it was weird. You have probably got the heebie-jeebies now," the King muttered turning away. Maurice recognized this pose as Sulky Julien and knew not to talk to him anymore.

"I'll…I'll see you later then," he said. The head-lemur said something under his breath and Maurice took this as a cue to leave.

As he jumped through the tree branches he thought idly to himself, maybe that's the reason he thought dressing up as a lady was such a good idea.

A/N He is in love with himself...so I figured he wouldn't know how it was to like someone else. That's my theory anyways. I can just feel the angry Julien/OC fans coming...(runs for cover.)
