Fury placed his keys into the front door of his apartment pausing slightly before he turned them to unlock the door. Quietly closing the door behind him, he could movement from deep within the apartment. Heading down to the master bedroom, where the noise was coming from, to find two suitcases wide open with clothes thrown in and over them. He smiled when he spotted is little boy sleeping on the bed under a pile of clothes.
"I'm surprised you haven't left yet." Fury turned towards the entrance of the walk-in wardrobe to see his wife walking over to the suitcases on the floor to place more clothes in them.
"Can't leave the two most important people in my life behind." Fury hoped he could use his charm to chill his wife's anger towards him.
"Really? Here was me thinking you didn't trust me." She was very angry with him.
"What made you think I don't trust you?" Fury moved closer to his wife.
"Let me think. One you didn't tell me that you weren't really dead. Two asked why you kept it a secret it was because you were no longer a target but you had to see who you could trust. So you I don't think you trust me after everything we have been through." She wanted to scream at him but their son was asleep on the bed and didn't want to wake him.
"I wanted to tell you but them you would have wanted to be by my bed side when I needed you out in the field with Steve."
"I know how to compartmentalise and you know that!" She stood up and was about to make her way back over to the walk-in wardrobe but Fury grabbed a hold of her wrist.
"There was guarantee that I would have made it through the surgery or recovery and I didn't want to you in the field worrying about whether I'm still breathing or if I'm actually dead. That's why I never told you. When I was talking about who I could trust it was directed to Steve not you."
Yanking her hand out of his grasp she stormed off into the wardrobe. Fury followed her because Maria had told him that she had taken the news of his fake death hard. Her back was to him but he could tell she was crying. Walking straight up to her, he spun her around and wrapped his arms around her holding her close to him.
"When they called tie of death, all I could think about was how Jacob wasn't going to see his father again and I wouldn't get to see you again either. I just wanted those heart monitors to start beeping again." The more she spoke the tighter Fury's grip got.
"The only thing that kept me going was you, Jacob and the fact we had started talking about having another baby." Fury pressed a kiss in the top of his wife's head.
Couple of months ago Fury had brought up the subject about having another baby. Jacob was almost four now and even though their job could be dangerous at times, they had managed surprisingly well juggling their work round Jacob.
"You really think we could have another baby with everything that is going on?" His wife asked.
"Maybe not now but in a couple of year I think we could."
"So what do we do now?"
"We destroy Hydra once and for all and rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D, stronger than it was before."
"Sounds like you have everything planned out." She smirked up at him.
"I have a place to start but I need a partner."
"I believe Maria is available."
"I was thinking you would want to be my partner." She was surprised, it had been a long time since they had been partner out in the field. "What to do you say Natasha, you in or out?"
"Oh I'm in." Natasha wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a long passionate kiss.
