ST James' school was a popular school. About one million kids went there from
all different religions and countries. Most of the teachers were jolly and
pleasant to be around, most of them anyway. There was one the kids called
Sergeant Grumps. He used to e a sergeant in world war two. He still believed he
was a sergeant. He would march around the class snarling at people who were
talking or threaten them with the cane. When some went up to the front for the
cane he would always growl " You wouldn't get off this lightly in my day." Then
WHACK!!!! The cane would come down, cutting gracefully through the air, and the
sufferer would feel the searing pain. Believe me it hurts.
I am going to tell you my story of when I joined ST James' school and spent a
whole year in Sergeant Grumps company.
Oh yeah, ST James' is a boarding school and you have to sleep there and all.
