Chapter One
Luna's POV (No NOT Luna from Harry Potter)
His first mistake was punching at me. His second mistake was thinking I was some girl he could push around. His third mistake was thinking I wouldn't fight back against him.
I grabbed his arm and twisted it up his back. He whimpered from the pain and thrashed pathetically. I took out his legs by smashing his knee. But he did something I didn't expect. He pulled a gun. I heard a gunshot and fell to the ground. He retreated, his footsteps echoing through my head like other gunshots. I cursed, flipping over so I could crawl on all fours. The bullet had gone through my ribs and I was going to die. I accepted death freely though I was only thirteen and haven't done many things. But then someone was standing next to me. No it wasn't just someone; multiple people were crowding around me. Their voicing fading. There were a few things I caught.
"She's too young, Carlisle, she's still innocent. She can go to heaven. We don't have to damn her. She can have a funeral, her family will be there and that monster will be found and thrown in jail."
"She doesn't have family."
"How do you know that?"
"Do you think her parents would let her be out here alone?"
"Carlisle you can't—"
Then everything went black, the smoke of fire engulfing me.
I woke up in a blindingly bright room, the sun shining through a large window. I looked around, seeing only an unfamiliar room but hearing people in the room. I sat straight up, my hair tumbling over my shoulders. My mind groped to remember the last thing that had happened to me. But it only pulled up static. "Where am I?" I mumbled to myself before taking in the other figures in the room. I gasped when I saw them and I knew instantly what they were. Vampires. I jumped from my bed and ran to the door, faster than would a human. I stared down at my legs and how they moved faster than normal. I was one of them. I was a vampire.
"Sweetie?" a soft voice called out to me. I spun around facing one of them. One of us.
"No!" I screamed. "Leave me alone!" I ran down stairs only run into a bigger one. He chuckled, his muscles bulging from his shirt.
"What are you doing?" he asked, amused.
"Get away from me," I growled darkly. He just chuckled once more and reached for me. I grabbed his arm like I had done with the man who had shot me and twisted it behind his back. The memories flooded back into my mind like a dam collapsing and releasing the pent up water. I shoved the vampire and kicked him into the wall. A blond haired vampire was suddenly shoving me to the floor but I was quicker.
"Leave me alone you bloodsuckers!" I screeched. Everyone stopped and stared at me for a millisecond before two of them tackled me to the ground. One of them looked older than the others, the father figure perhaps, with his ice blond hair and sharp features and a doctor's gown on. The other had wind-tossed bronze hair. They pinned me to the ground but I was able to kick them off me. I wasn't going to let these monster's touch me.
"Jasper," the older man called and three of them came after me. And then I was pinned. They rolled my sleeve up and gasped at the mark on my arm.
"She's a slayer."
