Prologue: They Dug Your Grave…

Annabeth watched in utter fascination as the people below her moved one and lived their lives. Humans were incredibly fascinating, and she wondered how the species had survived for so long.

They were dim-witted, twisted, broken beings living in a world of darkness and sin. But yet… They found ways to make ugly bearable, they bounced back and they kept on moving forward.

The young angel leaned closer; her blonde hair tumbled over her shoulders as she tried to get a better look at the earth below. Annabeth wanted to get closer… so close that she could touch them. She wasn't old enough to leave Heaven's gates, to watch over the people of earth from the ground they walked. She had to remain in the clouds, to remain as a dream for the human children.

She longed to be on earth to help all those lonely souls that cried out for saving, for rescue. She wanted to help so bad, so bad it drove her to try and get as close as possible.

Closer… closer… closer.

And suddenly Annabeth didn't have grip of the clouds and she was falling. Her wings were too small and still filled with downy-fluff to be of any use. The air stung her face and whipped her hair.

Closer…

Percy glared at the shadows around him and tugged at his leather jacket. He kept moving but he was ready for any of the demons that tried to reach out for him, their grotesque hands burned his mortal flesh and caused a deep stirring in his soul. He could still hear their rasping whispers as the echoed around in his head.

Our lord… Our lord…

Percy glanced down at his chest where the mark would be. He glared and prayed to a God he knew wouldn't listen, willing it to leave him and let him be. He didn't want the fate that had been thrust upon him. But why would God want to help him?

He was even lower than the Devil.

Destroyer…

I have this story all plotted and stuff, and I know, I know, I've got a lot going on, but no worries, my updates suck for everything, so I figured, why not pile my plate with all kinds of things so I have all these different things to do when I don't feel like updating something else. Yep. Excuse the spiritual things, but they're a big part of how this story works. Oh, and be prepared, for later, for LOTS AND LOTS of torture and angst. It wont be in this story too much, book one can be considered a normal AU Percabeth story.

This whole story came to me from the song Demons by Imagine Dragons. Check out the song and check out the band in general. I love them :)
