The day was cooler than most. A recent shower still left a humid musk hanging around, but nothing to complain about. With this, there was always a calm floating about, and with the last remaining traces of Organization 13 gone, there was nothing left to do.
Sora, who hadn't changed the least as the year passed on, stood alone re-reading the letter sent to him. Rather, it was sent to him, Riku, and Kairi. It was archaic, and he was beginning to lose all hope of ever understanding it. But something gave him hope.
"Sora!"
An all too familiar voice. Sora spun around to see Kairi running frantically up to him. She looked frazzled. Her hair was a mess and one of her straps had made its way off her shoulder and was draped over her upper arm.
Sora smiled lightly. "What's going on?"
"Who, me? Oh, nothing. What about you? Still reading that letter I see." Kairi, unlike Sora, lost interest in things she didn't understand very quickly and she immediately turned to something new. The letter was old news to her.
"Uh yeah." Sora scratched his cheek, and brought his hands behind his head, as he always did when he felt relaxed. "I just don't…I really don't get it at all."
Kairi shook her head. "Sora, Sora, Sora. I think I've got something that'll help your little predicament." With that Kairi's hands and her face disappeared as she bent herself down and dug through her pocket. She appeared to be searching for something. "Erg."
"What'cha looking for?" Sora cocked his head at Kairi's aggravation.
"Darnnit. I KNOW I put it right in here. I just know it's in here!"
Sora shook his head. "You're always losing things. What's your deal?"
Kairi shot up faster and more intense than light and glared at him. "Ooh! Be quiet! It's in here, okay?"
"How could you possibly lose something in a-"
Sora stopped himself suddenly. A small, barely visible pendant lying on the ground had caught his attention and he ignored Kairi as she continued her frantic search. He bent down and picked it up, quickly recognizing it as Kairi's lucky charm.
"Uh, Kairi?"
"Not now Sora!"
"But I found this! Is this what you're looking for?" He held up her charm and crammed it in her face.
Kairi giggled in embarrassment. "Uh, yeah." She took it from him. "That's it."
"Well, what the heck is so special about it? I've seen it before."
Kairi waved her fingers around. "Tut-tut, Sora. This charm is very different from the one I made. Wanna know why?"
Sora frowned and looked up at Kairi with a slight annoyance on his face. "It's blue?"
"Noooo. It's for you!" She propped herself up, and Sora couldn't help but notice the smile on her face was wider than ever. He liked her when she was happy. Happiness seemed so rare now a days.
"Well?"
Sora smiled. "Kairi, I-"
"Hey! Sora, Kairi!"
The two turned around in surprise, while Riku, looking even more eager than Kairi, made his way towards the two of them, ruining yet another one of Sora's chances to tell Kairi something he meant to tell her a long time ago.
