For Whom the Bell Tolls
By Adam Decker
Overview: Things change with time and fade with age. Sometimes the medical examiner is the one getting the autopsy. Forever Changed- Ducky.
Disclaimer: I do not own NCIS. This has no relation to any other NCIS story of mine. This story might also really suck.
Jimmy Palmer came into the main examining room for dead bodies. That's when he noticed that Ducky was slumped against a wall with his eyes closed.
I knew that he was working late, thought Dr. Palmer, but I didn't know that he would fall asleep here.
Dr. Palmer went up to him and tried to wake him up. That's when he found out that Ducky wasn't asleep. He was dead.
Upstairs at the main NCIS headquarters, the team was hanging out as usual. For once, Gibbs was there already so they knew not to say anything stupid. In fact no one was saying anything.
"I thought that you'd still be yourselves when I was still here," said Gibbs.
"No one ever acts the same around their boss," said Tony.
"Are you sure about that?" asked Gibbs. "You do seem like an idiot whether I'm around or not."
"Trust me," said Ziva, "he's even stupider when you aren't around."
"I resent that," said Tony.
"Will there be any cases today, boss?" asked McGee.
"I don't think so," said Gibbs. "Not unless Vance comes in with something."
Right at the moment, Dr. Palmer came into the room. He couldn't quite say what he had to say. What he ended up saying was, "I need you to come down to autopsy." When they all came down, they saw that Ducky was dead. There was silence for what seemed like an eternity. Everyone was sad. Nothing happened for the rest of the day. The next day, people started working out funeral plans for Ducky. Everybody talked about what a great guy he was and how much they'd miss him. Dr. Palmer was promoted to the new ME and his new assistant was someone straight out of grad school called David. In the end, he had a proper burial and everyone remembered the great times that they had with him.
The End
Author's Note: If this story was, in fact, horrible, I will get rid of it as soon as possible. Honestly, I can't think of a good story involving the death of Ducky. If you have better ideas, please let me know and I'll post a better story right away.
