A/N: This was the first Fruits Basket fanfic I ever wrote. Well, the first one that didn't suck, anyway. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Disclaimer: I do not own Fruits Basket.

Late Night Visitor

Normally, she was a very heavy sleeper and probably nothing short of an earthquake would wake her up. But this time around, Tohru found that she was being woken at the slightest noise, be it the creaking of the house or footsteps that kept passing by outside her door. Snuggling back down , she tried to get back to sleep, and, after a brief moment of wondering if she'd remembered to get the laundry in after she'd come home from school, eventually drifted off again.

Her eyes snapped open at the sound of her door being slid open, and soft footsteps padded across the floor in the direction of her bed. Tohru lay completely still, hoping that whomever it was had just walked into the wrong room by mistake. But, her mind suddenly questioned, what if it's a thief? Her eyes widened, and her heart increased in tempo. Oh no! Had she forgotten to lock the front door again? What if it was some crazed axe murderer whom had decided to just randomly come into her room and kill her? What if he'd already killed Shigure, Yuki and Kyo and was now coming for her? Her heart was thudding so hard that it almost hurt.

Wait…why would a crazed axe murderer just decide to climb into her bed? Unless he was one of those guys whom killed and then slept with his victims. Tohru's hand gripped the quilt with all her might, and a small whimper escaped her lips, which she hoped the…person hadn't heard. It didn't appear that they had, as they seemed to be wriggling down and starting to shift closer to her. She calmed down a fraction. Whomever it was clearly knew what they were doing. Could it be Shigure, trying to scare her for a joke? Yes, her now nearly rational mind answered, it could very well be him. After all, she certainly couldn't see Yuki doing this, not with him being as polite as he was. Kyo…maybe, but again, she couldn't really see why he'd want to leave his own bed.

She could feel the person's breath on the back of her neck. Whichever one of the three Sohma's it was, and Tohru was willing to bet that it was most likely Shigure, certainly wanted to get as close as he possibly could to her without transforming. Even though she'd almost completely calmed down, now that she'd figured out that it wasn't someone who wanted to kill and then sleep with her, Tohru still tensed slightly when she felt an arm draping itself over her chest. She couldn't feel anything brushing against her that might be beads, so that ruled Kyo ou…hang on. She stiffened as the arm was joined by the other one. They were both lying on their sides, Tohru facing the wall, and the person facing her back. The arms moved around for a while, before finally deciding on a good position. Unfortunately, that meant that they were hugging her. The sound of a small explosion, and then the silence was broken by a hushed, but still audible whisper of "Damn it!"

Tohru fought hard to stifle a giggle. Only one person would think of muttering that after he'd transformed, and though he wasn't whom she'd thought he was, at least it wasn't a total stranger.

Flipping over onto her back, she carefully reached out, her hand coming into contact with something small, warm and furry. Slowly, she lifted him up and placed him on her chest. Then she began to drift back off to sleep again, lulled by Kyo's purring and his warm, safe weight on her chest.
