Safety In Your Arms
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When he was three and nightmares became frequent, his mamma told him that if he ever needed to escape, to hide from the world, all he had to do was find her.
"Nothing can hurt you where I am." She would whisper to him, her lips lightly brushing his mop of hair.
Dean would nod, shaky through his tears, and snuggle closer into her shoulder.
At the tender age of five, when most children were readying themselves for school, new friends, and soccer games; Dean Winchester was readying for war.
"Shit!" Dean growled under his breath, the empty barrel making a hollow clicking sound that seemed to echo throughout the building. He glared down at the silver weapon, an irrational sense of betrayal washing over him. "Should 'a brought the 36…" With a muttered curse he glanced around as his eyes searched for the sprit that had just disappeared.
"SAM!"
Silence.
"SAM!"
Voice echoing off the walls, Dean winced at the fear even he could hear in it. He was going to kill him….that was, if he hadn't already been killed.
"Don't go there Dean."
This was so like Sam, always running off, always needing to be the one who was right…… Always Leaving. He could feel his anger building as he reached the stairs leading to the fourth floor, his feet continuing on as his mind wandered. Damn him! What right did he have to just go off? Was Sam really that selfish? And why the hell was he saving Sam's ass yet again? A smirk graced his lips, ohhh yeah, Sammy was going to pay for this one.
Latter on Dean would wonder if maybe his mind hadn't been so distracted, he might just have noticed the fact that the next three steps had caved way to mold; the fact that his foot was currently meeting with empty air. Or the fact that his last thoughts as his head connected with the basement floor were of Sam.
AN: Please feel free to review, and I hope you all can be patient with me. I'll be writing as fast as possible. I know the first chapter was short, but I promise they'll get longer as they go.
