Author Notes. Poor Shinonome-sensei. She's always trying all she can to help. I find it adorable how she gets so nervous around Soubi though.

She would see Ristuka stare out the window all day.
(was it so that perhaps he might catch a glimpse of him?)
His eyes would drift in and out of focus.
(perhaps he was thinking about him.)
Shinonome-sensei would notice with worried eyes.
(was it soubi-san that preoccupied him so?)
"Ritsuka-kun, please read this passage," she'd say.
(just so she could distract him from his reveries. if only for a fleeting moment.)
"Arigato, Ritsuka-kun," she'd reply, after he'd read the passage perfectly in a distracted voice.
(she'd risk a glance at him now and then, even as she continued with the class.)
"Ritsuka-kun, take care," she would say, in a caring voice as she watched him walk outside with Yuiko to meet Soubi.
(she would stare dejectedly out the window.)
A melancholic sigh escaped her lips.
(she silently reprimanded herself for being incompetent.)
Her teeth bit down harshly on her bottom lip.
(she would think herself to be useless, not able to do anything.)
Frustration evident in her eyes, she clenched her slender fingers in a tight fist.
(she would feel angry at herself because she didn't have the courage.)
"Gomen, Ritsuka-kun," she'd whisper silently.
(she would catch one last glimpse of Ritsuka, a smile on his face as he walked away with Soubi-san and Yuiko-kun.)
"Gomen, I can't do anything to help."
(she was angry because there was nothing she could do to help him.)

Loveless one shot. I originally planned for it to be Ritsuka-centric. But poor Shinonome-sensei doesn't get the credit she deserves. ;D Ohh. And the definition at the top was taken from merriam-webster. Lyrics are from Tsuki no Kaasu, the OP of Loveless.
