The snow was gently falling. Tiny, crystalline flakes filled the chilly night air, lazily spiraling in their descent toward the earth. A blanket of white covered the ground, streets, trees and buildings. Many of the houses were adorned with glittering, multicolored lights that dazzled the eyes.

Out in the front yard of one of the houses two people and a large dog were busily building a snowman. One person was a tall young man with lanky limbs and shaggy-brown hair. He wore a heavy green winter jacket with blue jeans and yellow snow cap. The other was a beautiful young woman with red-gold tresses that ran down to her shoulders. She sported a purple parka with a fur-lined hood and fashionable lavendar winter boots. A green scarf was wrapped around her slender neck as well.

As the pair were putting the finishing touches on their jolly little snowman, neither one of them noticed their canine companion sneaking away. When the young man took off his cap and placed it upon the snowman's brow, he flashed a warm smile toward his lovely companion. Her cheeks flushed red slightly, and then she giggled at him. She removed her scarf and placed it around the snow sculpture's neck. They both stepped back and admired their artistic endeavor.

Two snowballs slammed into the backs of their heads. As one they turned toward their expected assailant. "Scooby!" they cried simultaneously.

The Great Dane was balancing on his tail like a monkey, armed with a snowball in each of his four paws. He grinned mischieviously at them. Both the man and woman groaned loudly, "Oh no!"

Immediately the young man leaped in front of his female companion and wrapped his arms around her protectively. A split second later four white projectiles struck his back simultaneously. He crumpled to the ground in an overdramatic fashion. He gazed up into his girlfriend's eyes.

"Please, Daphne," he begged, his voice a raspy squeak. "Remember me always! I, like, promise to wait for you beyond the veil! Never forget, I love you!" His eyes slowly closed, seemingly forever.

"No!" She screamed not so convincingly, whilst trying to hide her laughter. "Shaggy! Don't leave me! How can I go on without you?"

She fell to her knees and hugged him fiercely. Scooby dropped to all fours and ran over to them.

"Rhaggy?" he called. "Raphne"?

Daphne pulled back off of Shaggy as Scooby approached. When the big dog was within reach, both of Shaggy's arms reached out and grabbed Scooby. Shaggy dragged the Great Dane over him and they began rolling around in the snow in a friendly wrestling match.

Daphne watched their tussel for bit with a huge smile on her lovely face, then walked in their direction. When she got close, Scooby's tail shot out and accidentally tripped her. Luckily, Shaggy was able to catch her in his arms before she hit the ground. He cradled Daphne for a couple of moments as she lay across his body in the powdery white snow. She looked into his eyes and saw the concern reflected within their hazel depths.

"Are you ok, Daph?" he gently asked while caressing her crimson-gold hair.

"Never better than when sheltered in your arms, my love," she replied with a glint of humor in her own eyes. Daphne rested her head on Shaggy's chest and listened to his heartbeat. The young couple both closed their eyes and the rest of the world just melted away as the snow continued to fall softly around them. Scooby curled up next to them, adding his own warmth.
