Hey all! Makoto here! This is my first fic so if it really sucks you can blame it on that. I want reviews so that I can tell if it's worth continuing. ( and to boost my secretly growing ego, mwhahaha) Flame if you want, but I don't care!
I do not own any of the Gundam characters, well, maybe in my dreams!
~Sinister's Child~
"In other new, Benefactor Julius Armoir and his wife were killed Monday in a freak shuttle accident, leaving behind a sixteen year old daughter and a grieving colony. Investigations concluded that....." Relena Peacecraft, embassador to peace, switched of the television.
"Oh God," she spoke aloud, "he was such a good man, why did he deserve to die? So much death..." Relena slumped back down into the leather chair and covered her face with her hands. Her honey blond hair swept down and veiled her face, now streaming with silent tears. "What about his poor daughter!" Relena thought suddenly, remembering how she had felt after her own father's death. "I wonder if I could contact her?"
Just then there was a knock at the door to her office. Quickly straightening herself out, Relena crossed the room and opened the door. Her secretary, Seiko, along with Heero and Trowa, and two other individuals were standing on the other side of the oak doors.
"Miss Relena," Seiko spoke, "there is a lawyer and one of Benefactor Armoir's representatives here to see you."
"Come on in and sit down," Relena invited, giving one of her customary smiles. After the men had entered her office, she shut the doors and turned to greet her visitors, giving no mind to Heero or Trowa, who had positioned themselves on either sides of the huge doors.
"I was just informed of Mr. Armoir's unfortunate death, it will be a struggle without him," Relena started as she sat down facing the two men, at the other end of the desk, "I was concerned about his daughter, if there is anything I can do to help her cope, I'm always here."
"That's the reason we're here," stated one of the men, "my name is Mr. Hoda, I was one of Mr. Armoir's representatives. This," he indicated towards the other man, "was one of his most trusted lawyers, Mr. Tenchi. As I have already said, we are here on the behalf of Claudette Armoir, Mr. Armoir's daughter. He must have thought highly of you Miss Relena, for in his will, it is mentioned that if anything was to happen to him, his daughter was to be sent to live with you."
Relena was speechless, she vaguely remembered giving Mr. Armoir her consent on the issue months before. She looked up at Heero for support, but could find no answer in his steely gaze.
"We understand that you are a very busy woman, so if this arrangement is unsuitable for you, we have arranged for Claudette to go to a very nice orphanage on colony L2," informed Mr. Hoda.
Her eyes shifted back to the two men as her mind raced through the situation. Relena cleared her throat, "well, this is very unexpected, but I don't feel that it would be right for me to turn my back on Claudette and have her shipped off to some orphanage, I'm sure we can find room for her here."
Mr. Hoda smiled, "wonderful, if I can have you sign this form making you Claudette's legal guardian, we'll be all set."
A form was produced from Mr. Tenchi's briefcase and Relena signed it, making sure to read it first. Finishing, she asked, "when will Claudette be arriving?"
The two men exchanged looks, then Mr. Hoda spoke up, "Well.... you see.... she's here already, waiting in the secretary's office."
