Hello!

I'm sorry! I've had an extreme case of absolute laziness. However, I have been wanting to write again for a while and so, this was born! Please take it easy on me, I literally haven't written anything since my last update (whenever that was :'( ).

Disclaimer: I do not own Noragami in any way and any direct lines you recognise are clearly not my own, simply using it to set up the rest of the fic.

Please enjoy :)

Their arms were shaking, one supporting the other as they struggled to maintain the barrier. Inside, Yukine continued to struggle, screaming, pleading that he had nothing wrong. Further away, Yato lay gasping on the hard ground as Hiyori continued struggling against Kofuku's grip on her, attempting to get to her two unlikely friends. Her tail swished behind her, expressing her current distress.

"Daikoku, change into your Koki form and take him down. Now!" Kazuma's normally calm tone was one filled with desperation and fear.

"Don't be ridiculous! I do that now and we lose absolute control!" Daikoku just held onto the arm bearing the sign for the barrier tighter, willing himself not to let go.

"I didn't do anything wrong!" the scream tore out of Yukine's throat, and straight to Yato's heart. He wanted to call out to boy. He wanted to bring him back. Because Yukine was like the little brother that he never had. He could feel his life ebbing the more that Yukine denied his sins, and honestly, he couldn't blame the boy for the turmoil that he was feeling.

He needed to call his name, he needed to get through to him. Even it meant his last breath.

"Yukine… we won't be friends anymore!" the statement ended with a sob. And it was her pain and tears which finally pushed Yato into yelling the statement that he didn't have the energy for.

"Yukine! I found you… I named you… I granted you a person's name!" Yato could feel the effects of yelling on his body, he wasn't going to last much longer if his shinki continued to sting him. "So, live like a person!" It took his breath away. Literally.

"Live like a person? How? I'm DEAD!" Yukine smacked into the barrier once more, but the difference was noticeable. No longer was he writhing between the three walls, he was calming down.

"Confess, Yukine!" Daikoku tried to reach out to the teen once again. "Do it for your friends!"

"…Friends…" the word echoed in his mind. That was the second time someone had told him that he had friends within the last few minutes. He gazed towards Yato and it hit him.

He had a second chance because of Yato. He had a second chance because of Hiyori. He had a second chance to build another life because Yato didn't overlook the small little snowflake hidden behind a barrister.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I did all those things! I stole, I tried to feel Hiyori up!" He gasped, trying to regain his breath. "And I told a lot of lies!"

"Yukine," Hiyori's hands covered her mouth as she tried stifling her tears. "It'll be okay!" She called out to the boy as he started sobbing.

Turning around to Yato, noticing that he hadn't said anything, she gasped. The delivery god lay still in a puddle of blood. No sign of movement.

The scream tore through the air.

"YATO!"

See you soon!
