Alex had been worried about Bobby for the better part of two days now. She had tried to explain his mother's condition to Ross, but gave up in favor of checking up on him.

"Bobby it's Alex, I just wanted to see how you were." She said considering using the key if he didn't come to the door soon. She had just started going through her purse when she heard the locks clicking open. What she saw threw off her train of thought for a minute. Bobby looked like a shadow of himself. His usual tall proud frame was slumped under the weight of his mother's problems. Haggard would be the perfect word to describe him. Bags under his eyes, and a five o'clock shadow that read more like midnight, in an undershirt and 'NYPD' sweatpants, he looked sad. Alex wanted to grab hold of him, and never let go.

"I'm sorry Eames," he said stepping aside to allow her entrance, "it's just been really tough recently, I know I've pushed everyone away. I'm glad you're harder to push." The last statement was said in a whisper. She heard anyway.

"You're damn right I'm harder to push, and I push back. Now get yourself cleaned up, I'm not taking you out to dinner looking like that." Alex said firmly leaving no room for argument. Twenty minutes later, Bobby came out of what Alex assumed was the bedroom, looking more himself. In blue jeans and a dark blue button up shirt, he looked good enough to eat. On the way to the restaurant he actually smiled. They would get through this together, just like every other bump in their partnership. The discussion centered mostly on his mother, but as he talked about her the weight seemed to ease from his shoulders. When they left the diner Bobby was back, the sulking child chased back to the shadows. Oh he would come out again, of that Alex was almost certain, but next time she'd be ready. She would have to be, or she'd be down a partner.

End. Please review and let me know what you think.
