The Art of Design
Adam looked up and glanced around the room. The teacher was droning on endlessly about some subject he could almost swear was in a different language and even Luke and Glynis were starting to look bored. He pulled a piece of paper out of his notebook and started doodling. The image grew and became more detailed; he became engrossed in the shadows and texture and for a moment lost himself in a world of silver colored lead. Finally his fingers stopped moving and he let his eyes absorb the entire image. He blushed slightly as he realized what picture had risen unbidden from the paper. It was her eyes, her nose and her smile looking back up at him. He flipped through his notebook and saw that its pages were filled with pictures of her. "She must think I am such a freak." He thought to himself. He glanced over at her, and saw that she too was doodling.
He brought himself closer to her, craning his next to catch even a glimpse of what she was drawing. She shifted slightly and he smiled; the paper was filled with a large red heart and the words Adam and Joan Forever. The bell rang and he grabbed her hand. She turned to him in surprise and smiled.
I love you." He whispered kissing her gently.
"I love you too." She replied.
"See me after school?"
"Sure. What do you want to do?" He followed her out of the classroom.
"What about the mall?" He watched in delight as another smile settled on her lips and she bounced off to her next class.
