(this is a totally made up fic about the origins of a Gunblade)
The Gunblade, a weapon so deadly it sends shivers down the spine of even the most talented fighters, striking fear into their brave hearts. For it's advantage of having both speed and strength, the Gunblade has been given the nickname of "Galiant Assasin".
It works both ways, for stealth, the ergonomically designed shape, and silent when needed strike. For head on, a deathblow at the head, and mighty force, crushing its opponent.
"the Gunblade, a weapon so well designed and crafted, it's considered more of art then weapon."
Famous painter Lukivitch was quoted with this saying. True, the Gunblade had many designs, all skillfully made, and using only the highest of quality materials. Nothing less would do. Engraving was popular for Gunblade users. Pictures, symbols, names, initials, all of them fitted. Squall Leonhart, savior of the 5th Era, was said to have used a Gunblade of the Revolver series. The picture of a Lion, whom he named Griever, was engraved onto its side. He had said that the lion symbolized his attitude. Strong, prideful, and brave. Rather canny if you ask me. But this had proven that the Gunblade can act as a very companion based equipment, it's user fond of it, and close as a friend.
Vilkoi le Killios, of Trabian nationality, was the inventor of the Gunblade. He had first ran a corporation, the Vilkoi industry, famed for its high quality weapons. The company had risen to such standards, that it caught the eye of the Galbadian army. Trabia was under Galbadia's control at that time, during the great Sorceress War.
They had seized the factory and taken it for their own good. Vilkoi was kicked out, and left behind. He had no where to go, and swore that he'd come back to his feet. Vilkoi, highly looked up to even when he had lost everything, formed a small rebellion, hell-bent on liberating Trabia. Being the genius designer he was, Vilkoi deisgned te Gunblade, a weapon which Gabadia had not known of and were not prepared against. Together with his fellow rebels, Vilkoi stormed the headquarters, Killing General Manstroy Caraway, who was in charge of Trabia.
Thus Trabia was liberated. Yet after things had settled down, people began admiring the usefulness of such a devastating weapon. Those that stood in their way held no chance of fighting back, crushed under its mighty force. Vilkoi then started another company, manufacturing only Gunblades. At first, it was admired and popular. But then, slowly, they found the Gunblade hard to use, and it's effect not worth the effort. Running out of business, the Gunblade factory had shutdown. But those who loved and were loyal to it, kept on the tradition. Many families made Gunblade-crafting into their family tradition, passed on from generation to generation.
And that is why, today, Gunblades cannot be found mass produced. Only original designs and handmade. Each Gunblade is unique.
Ironically, the Wielder of the mightiest Gunblade known to man, the Lionheart, was Squall. He had married Rinoa, the daughter of General Caraway, whose father Manstroy Caraway was struck down by the first maker of a Gunblade, Vilkoi, with the Gunblade itself.
The maker of the Gunblade, and the Caraway dictator.
The hero that used a Gunblade, and the daughter of the dictator.
Perhaps fate was such that peace had been made between the spirit of the Trabians, the Gunblade, and the Caraway family, through the unity of both sides, being Squall and Rinoa?
The Gunblade, a mighty weapon, mystical in it's own history.
